I loved the first three games, and now we reached the last game in another trilogy. Legend really deserved its title - how will this hold up in comparison?

@@LIZZgame yeah just takes getting used to the more advanced gameplay mechanics in this one, and the slightly glitchy camera and maybe slightly glitchy movement and physics, but overall the level design, music, mechanics, graphics, etc, it’s a great game I think! 🙂

The jumping on enemies was only for Legends. Underworld you have a slow motion button.

I really enjoyed this game but found the moves a bit difficult at times. Lara certainly looks good and Keeley Hawes was a great voice actor. Hope you enjoy the game Lizz. Great video. Steve

17:45 I think the physics glitches are a result of way too high frame rates that this game runs at on your modern rig. I recommend to lock the FPS to something like 60. That should fix the physics issues I think. Edit: Nvm, looks like you got it already (22:52) 👍

I set Y-Sync on and thought that limits the frame rate, since this game doesn't have a specific FPS setting. But I also needed to limit the Refresh Rate to 60hz.. looked nasty compared to my 240hz, but well.. at least it was playable lol

Yeah.. Streaming requires a bit more attention than "just" gaming. I look at chat when I have no threat around me or I think I won't miss things.. and then there is a silent text prompt on screen THE SECOND I look away lol.

@@LIZZgame Yea I tried streaming on twitch years ago and its difficult. Unless you try it and even with a few viewers at once, its hard to keep an eye on the chat and answer stuff as well as play. Hats Off to ya. (I have downloaded Fallout 4 now thanks to you lol)

Wow, I’ve never seen those blocks glitch like this! Hope that’s not going to happen for you throughout the game… (On the other hand, you may be battling the camera throughout; it’s one of the inescapable challenges of this one.)

We fixed the blocks by limiting the refresh rate to 60hz.... 😥 But as you said.. the camera was driving me mad

I really suggest performing more flips during combat. It can help dodge bullets and waste less health kits

About the glitching boxes with broken physics: You should turn V-Sync off in the game settings. That should do the trick.

I love that Croft Manor is part of the game this time, even if it explodes. It really rewards the players that spent time there in "Legend" and "Anniversary". Have you watched the old "Underworld" teaser trailer (the one with the classical music)? It's beautiful and was very shocking before the game came out. ^^ Also the sinking ship sequence always impresses me. Lara came a long way from her blocky origins.

The adrenaline headshot is different in this game, yiur meter next to your healthbar has to be full, to jump off the enemies you have to press the grapple button and then itll activate the headshot. You can also click on your joystick to activate slow motion. This the first tomb raider game with lara motion captured.

I think I've heard they used motion capture for cutscenes in AOD, but at any rate, it's definitely the first to also use them in-game

I don't know if you've figured it out later on, but the important setting for the physics bug is the 60 FPS settings. Everything else should be irrelevant. I have this issue too, because even with Vsync, if you have a high refresh rate monitor, you still end up with "too" many frames. Edit: Yeah, you figured it out. It's an unfortunate consequence of how Physics are calculated in older games.

there is no FPS settings for this game. There is Vsync and Hz.. apprently limiting Hz does the same? I was so confused. I thought it's just for the monitor.. :D

Haha, I love your reaction to Lara in that swimsuit xD. Just a side note: There are 2 DLCs of this game, that take place after the events of this game, so it's kind of the real conclusion. They're only XBOX-exclusive however.

​​​​@@LIZZgameYeah, 240 is 8 times the intended 30 fps so it's still way too high, I wonder to what degree 60 also causes bugs (like maybe when you were trying to pull a cogwheel and had to spam the button? It should be holding but Lara was saying no with her head, looked broken). After all, V-Sync isn't really the ultimate solution but it's the easiest available, other games have a separate fps cap that doesn't require V-Sync and doesn't have to match the monitor Hz but oh well, not this game. A shame but back then it was common practice to calculate things based on fps, maybe it was cheaper. All tomb raider games before legend depended 100% on fps so they would literally speed up or slow down if not 30 (or 60 for AOD) except for the recent remasters where they fixed this. Legend onwards was in this weird transition era where only a few things depend on it, like the PS2 GTA games

Last time someone said about the game crashing with 16 (I think) cores, I think there's a way to make the game automatically launch using less cores with a .bat file

I watched the stream (grahamhg) but I get potato resolution. 480p if I'm lucky. This game was targetted at 30 fps for PS3/Xbox 360, the physics still seem a bit off at 60 fps. Maybe its affecting the camera too? I noticed it was janky when I played it, but not unusable. TBH for these types of games I prefer 4k resolution, accurate colour reproduction and HDR (and full raytracing if possible) at 60 fps over lower resolution and 120/144/240 fps. 120 is nice as it is smoother, but its only needed for multiplayer shooters IMO, which I'm not into. That and I tend to game on consoles or a laptop. I'm an architect by profession so resolution (at least 200ppi so line weights are rendered more accurately) and colour accuracy are more important to me, I used to argue with my PC gamer colleague about this, but he is obssessed with high refresh monitors for gaming instead.

It's a shame the game doesn't include any native frame rate cap feature, you'd have to use third party programs to lock it to 30 which is what I would do

@@mrglasses8953 Refresh rate is only the refresh rate of the monitor which is independent from the game's internal frame rate, you can enable V-Sync but most people don't have 30Hz as an option, or anything other than 60 for that matter. Many other games out there suport both V-Sync and proper frame rate caps independently or straight up force it in some cases

I think it's also important what kind of game you play. For competitive shooters you kind of need high refresh rates. The monitor I wanted came with 240hz, before that I was fine with 140hz or even 60hz.
