Amazing work!!!! Seeing this in 2020, and I didnt see this until now. Wow What an anthem!!!!!! I have been a B&LE railfan because I live down the street from the line in Saxonburg, and i remember coming home from school and seeing the northboumd go by daily. Oh, the days.... again, this brought back a lot of great memories of seeing trains go by on the bus ride home or on the walk down to the tracks from my house. Amazing work!!!

This video has touched my heart and provided tears of Joy. I've watched it over & over and get teary eyed every single time. My Dad was an Engineer for B&LE from 1970-2012. Im 95% sure the engineer at the end of this video was my dad operating the train, It has all his features. At the beginning of this song it has a recording of the crews work-day assignments. The only train ride i took over the road with Dad was exactly what the 2nd crew was assigned to do: 1pm Greenville Yard to Shenago for Scrap car pickup, Transport scrap to Butlers Ak Steel, Switch out Empties, Return to Greenville. I feel like i was destined to hear this song, Because it details My Father's and My Career (I worked at P&C Dock from 2001-2013). My Dads Passion, Commitment and Love for this railroad & his job was out of this world. I cannot recall him ever taking much time off work and most of his vacation time he would usually sell back. The last cpl yrs before his retirement, He worked the 2nd crew (12-1p start) out of Greenville where he usually left for work 2 hours early, while we lived only an hour away. He just loved his job and always looked forward to going to work. I new the day he had to actually retire, Could ultimately lead him to start dying inside. Which he unfortunately did pass on just 7 short years later in 2019. Being his only son and him being the only parent i truly had, theres still not a solid week i go without crying for him, theres not a day that passes that i don't think of him, He will forever be with me. He is forever my hero & role model. The greatest Dad a Son could ever have.

Came here from the podcast. Great song, the engine start up made my day and prompted an immediate smashing of the like button. I'm a fan of the Duluth, Missabe, and Iron Range from Minnesota and saw one of their old locomotives in the video with its mostly intact paint. DM&IR was also swallowed up by CN eventually. Have you considered doing a podcast episode on the Lake Superior Railroad Museum and its North Shore Scenic Railroad? They are a great organization with great exhibits.

XB is the southern terminus of the B&LE in North Bessemer, Penna. Loads and empties are interchanged in the yard there with the Union Railroad for the trip down to Edgar Thompson Works. It's about 15 miles from North Bessemer to ET in Braddock.
