Aya is the way Koreans say Ouch! Aya is a breakup song. As duska said, the process of removing themselves from the toxic relationship is as painful as extracting rotten teeth. The snake charmer flute melody represents the seductive power of love and the Arabian Nights set & costume design implies that the love affair has been an exotic, romantic fantasy, a castle built on sand. In the Arabian Nights Scheherazade tells the 1001 tales to her husband over as many nights, each time stopping with a cliffhanger ending leaving him in suspense so he will want to hear more the next night rather than kill her in the morning as he had intended. Love, desire and passion are often risky, dangerous business in Mamamoo songs and Aya is a good example. Solar said the unibrow was a nod to Mexican artist Frida Kahlo but she didn't explain what Frida has to do with a breakup song, why she was dressed like a ghost with the extra long hair extensions and the white dress, or the meaning of the final scene where she stabs the bowl with a dagger. It took a bit of research to come up with an explanation and though it might sound far fetched Solar has a wild imagination and I think my interpretation is close to her intent. Frida Kahlo lived through a lot of pain after a bus accident where her pelvis was impaled. Young female Asian ghosts are thought to be haunted by lost love. Solar needs to remove her lingering feelings for the lover to move on with her life and, as we've said, it's going to be painful. Put those three elements together and you get the final scene where she ritually exorcizes her feelings by impaling the bowl of her tears with a dagger.

AYA is an expression, like a sound that you make when you are in pain. Basically the song is about brake you and the feeling after that - “I’ll get rid of the rotten teeth.” it means that even if the tooth is rotten, it feels incredibly painful to pull out. This is metaphorical for removing the lingering feelings after a breakup. Even if the lingering memories are no longer benefitting you, it can still feel painful to remove from your life. Mamamoo are really amazing group and their vocals abilities are incredible! You should listen to: Mamamoo - Egotistic and HwaSa - Maria (She is a member of Mamamoo).
