Just as a note for future genetic modification, the "low cover counts as full cover" in the sniper class actually allows the sniper to activate mimetic skin for any cover! It might be nice for an operative or to set up a backup for Leigh.

I still feel the need to advocate for Robinson. She was the anchor that kept Xcom afloat through all the early trials. I would at least like to see you put her into psi testing/ gene modding or cybernetics to increase her overall utility.

A reminder Odd, you *can* skip your turn without giving orders to all soldiers. It happened before in this playthrough multiple times that you didn't want to give Leigh any orders and gave her a hunker down or, in this case, an overwatch because you thought you had to give an order. But you can just press backspace to end your whole turn and pass to the aliens.

I believe when a unit is in full cover, it needs to side-step around the cover to shoot, which makes that adjacent tile a position where it can be shot. When that cover is destroyed, only the tile where it is currently standing is a target.

Emela 'Herald' Winds, Personal Log #28 August 17, 0230 My dad used to always say 'it never rains but it pours' and that could not feel more true than it does right now. 3 missions in two days last week and now, once again, my sleep plans have been completely shot to pieces by the aliens refusing to be quiet. No sooner than the Skyranger had returned from an arguably average mission in India than a small scout craft was spotted over nearby Argentina. The team that landed were, barring Hide, told to get back on board while Durant made her way up. I have already woken up the other strategists who all went to bed immediately following the end of the India missions as I determined de-brief could wait until morning. I would have been with them were it not for my vigil to the flight deck. The team returned from Bangalore in good shape and there were no injuries to speak but that does not mean the mission was a success. It appeared the aliens had descended on some unrest surrounding a military base, which meant there were numerous civilians caught up in the crossfire once our team arrived. . I hate when that happens. I do not blame the civilians as it is certainly not their fault but they have no idea how hard missions are to work through when we have to consider the safety of more than just our own soldiers. Most of the civilians couldn't be saved. Not only have the aliens upgraded some of their units (the 'floaters' seemed particularly better armoured this time around) but they seemed to be under explicit orders to target innocents as they frequently ignored Xcom soldiers when there were civilians nearby, even if it left them in more danger than they would have otherwise been in. Combined with the significant threat posed by the aliens and we frequently had little choice but to make very slow forward progress, which allowed the aliens to kill most of the civilians. I am not yet sure whether we could have prevented that. That can be worked out during debrief tomorrow. Despite the deaths, the Indian government seemed grateful and initial reports are that their population is calming down. Good signs. Hopefully this scout UFO we downed will not pose too much of an issue. How many aliens could it possibly contain? Hopefully not so many that it prevents me getting to bed before the sun comes up. The Skyranger should reach it just after 0300 and, all going well, will be back by 0600. Maybe a peek at sunrise before sleeping for twenty minutes before the Klaxons no doubt ring out once more. -E

There were 3 pistol shots against the last Muton 1 close and personal and 2 rapid fire. Out in open is not flanked. POISON DAMAGE only occurs when you have taken an action other than hunker. so If poisoned don't move hunker or end turn until no longer poised Respirator, Chitin plating and med kits grands immunity against poison. Also the respirator grants as much protection as a fiber vest.

Interceptor Pilot, Log #36 - Aren Locke These interstellar abominations were determine to cause as much havoc as possible this time. Whether it's due to the satellites covering all current council nations, continued revenge for our base assault on them, or just to try and demoralize us, I don't know. But the number of civilians saved were less than before. (Sigh) I understand why the Commander want to send as many of his more green soldiers as possible. But for missions like these terror attacks... it's clear that either our top ranks, or the best equipment, or both is needed. The aliens are sending out their best, from mutons to chryssalids to now these damn heavy floaters. We need to respond in kind, and send in the best in the roster. If not, well... slaughters like these will continue to be likely. Getting back on topic, things were just as bad up in the air. Not only did we still have to deal with aircrafts, ant-air cyberdisks, and city-infested chryssalids; but the heavy floaters I mentioned? The ******* jumped at our jets, trying to tears them apart with their own claws. Had to shake off quite a few of those flesh-mech abominations, and dodge several more. Will these be a pattern? Introduce more horrors in each of these terror attacks, new ways to amp the slaughter? If so... then I ain't looking forward to what they got cooked up next. And unfortunately, they day isn't over. A small scout got spotted, so one of the other ravens was sent to take it down. Now the Commander is sending a team to head to the wreckage, and eliminate the surviving aliens. It's a small scout, one that got shot down, so there shouldn't be a heavy amount of enemies. All accounts, it should be a simple clean up mission. Locke out.

Personal Log of Micky “Frosty” Caldwell August 16th - August 17th Meds to fix a headache acquired, ain’t fixing my grievances with some of XCOM’s hiring policies but now my head doesn’t hurt. Squad made it back in one piece, less could be said of the civilians unfortunately. Though I can’t say what more could be done out there, floaters, cyberdisks, and mutons oh my! That was far too much heavy artillery for just using on civilians, though I suppose that is the point of terrorizing cities. India seems happy enough with the results at least. Research did a quick gutting of the new tanky floater that got killed on the last mission, same creature as last time just better equipped. They’re still hammering out the details of the new jets, it’ll be a bit before they’re ready for production but when they are it’s going to become very interesting when it’s UFO hunting time. Also they just shot down another UFO, just a little one this time but the materials it’ll have will be very nice, if they aren’t all wrecked from when it got shot down.

2 more things that take a LOT of time is: 1. AIMING a grenade and 2. THINKING 10 times for each soldier. Maybe would be cool to have a mod or a timer that limits the think time of a soldier to make things going faster

Logistics Tactical Officer "Ruby" Log 37. Date: August 17, 2015. What a mess. The aliens struck a military base out in India - it's not a surprise it turned into a kill box for civilians. Turned a place most would consider safe into a no man's land. If our fighter craft can't survive alien plasma fire, then there's no way grounded tanks could make a dent or survive a few bursts. It was a bloodbath - one that the aliens seemed to revel in. They didn't even bother to shoot our soldiers hunting them down most of the time! They were almost exclusively targeting the defenseless civilians running scared. We barely got any of them out. Not even a third of them. It makes me sick, that the aliens have ramped up their tactics to such diabolical levels. Sadly, there's still no rest for the wicked. I'm making this recording at midnight rolling into today because I don't know if I'll have the time or mental bandwidth to do it later. And I need a way to get all this frustration out. At least talking about it in this manner, even if nobody hears about it, is a slight measure of relief. Why? Well, another UFO is in the air. Likely scouting out something like that massive one earlier. So, back to work. The aliens won't rest, and so we can't either.

This is the first mission where every single soldier had missed a regular shot. Collux, with 93 aim missed the highest chance to hit this mission at 83% while Leigh managed to hit not one, not two, but THREE 45% shots.

It would be nice to see the cutscenes and DLC story missions like Shen's last gift in your next campaign. It was nice watching them and reading the research this season. Also, I feel like the Gaurdian class from last season should make a comeback, maybe with some buffs to be more viable in the ultra modded setting.

I think I'll need to get some pointers from the other soldiers to see if they have any tricks of the trade. I've got to get better or I'll loose my spot in the squad. I did, however, earn a promotion. I'm now a Captain and can requisition an enhanced smoke grenade which should help disrupt enemy fire power. As for cross referencing the data, unfortunately I've been called out on another mission. Hopefully I can make it through hitting a target this time. Anyway, I'll just go restock my med kit and then I'll get on the Skyranger.

The mission was…could we even call it a success? It feels awful to say since Strike-1 and the Commander did their best and the opposition was oppressive with these new…Floaters with heavier armor and weaponry but…5? No, it’s better than none I know but my heart bleeds for the lives that were lost and it just feels hopeless after seeing how many die all the time. Societies are built with civilians and workers not with soldiers, those are the protectors! But what do we even protect if there aren't people to go back home to anymore? That’s not winning a war that’s just avoiding extinction. I’m tired of the carnage, it sickens me and I’ve been ill for a very long time now. I’m grateful that Arnold made it through and even did somewhat well. The kid just might make for a fine soldier if he continues to live through these operations…but the fact we’re fielding men as young as Sammy just shows how desperate humanity is right now. At the least he’s been field-testing the new armor which should hopefully be replicable for the entire squad soon. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ I’ve been told that the “bank” that the last Exalt cell was operating from was actually a Police Station? I guess that’s what I get by making these logs based on the first view of the feeds and not the after action reports…give me a break I’m not in the head-space for this. Especially not with that scout UFO that Strike-1 is gearing to investigate, Arnold’s heading back out there with Mellioria, Leigh, Penton, Martinez, and Durant. Commander Odd has seen fit to trade some explosives for a few of those protective Nano-Fiber vests in the meantime in place of new armor which should hopefully counteract the heavier weaponry the Aliens are deploying more commonly now. Performance as we all know it for the previous LP-s. It is actually much much better to run around with the mimetic skin and rescue civilians. After all this mission is not to kill all alians and rescue civilians but rescue civilians and kill all remaining aliens.

I feel like if you care about the civilians you should slightly prioritize killing the drones, they only do 2-3 damage but they also kill civilians instantly.

Quick tip, you can skip UFO crash site missions at no panic penalty, just the resources you would have collected.

At most you should only take one lower level troop every time. And get the armor for everyone on a squad as priority.

30:21 The attack did hit Bradly but since he has will to survive and drones do abysmal damage (1-3), will to survive made so that the drone hit him for 0 damage. Additionnaly, civilians may survive a drone hit because the have 2 HP (Only in Enemy within, in Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2 they have 1 HP)

Yeah the Drone damage on Civilians could be seen earlier in the episode so their the lowest priority of targets to go for, that being said targeting them is still worthwhile.
