A lot of us didnt expect to cry at the beginning like right in the feelings. I didnt know much of the Guardians except through Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I had a lot of fun with this one and I love the soundtrack

People thought this was gonna be Marvel's biggest flop, since the Guardians was really unknown and pretty bizzare, even comic fans thought so. But they were able to make them the big hitters in the Marvel Universe.

in case no one answers the question. the species that groot is do speak, but it sounds to those unfamiliar with the language like a repeated phrase. as they get older they harden and it becomes harder for them to be understood by others. in the original comics with Groot, his story is he is from a planet where the trees rule society and the animals are a servile class. He is actually royalty. (This is not a spoiler because they will not go into it.)

James Gunn before Guardians of the Galaxy wrote the screenplay to Zack Snyder's excellent Dawn of the Dead; he also directed the very entertaining horror comedy Slither, as well as the superhero parody Super, which is still the most batshit crazy movie I've ever seen in my life. Also, his brother Sean (who plays Kraglin in GotG) is in two Angel season 1 episodes as two different characters.

James Gunn was a director for Troma, which did a lot of really B-level sci-fi/comic movies, like the Toxic Avenger. He also directed one of the best horror comedies of all time, Slither.

Hello Nick & Wen!😊 James Gunn's directorial debut was actually a body horror film called "Slither" (2006). It actually feels like and 80s horror film tribute. Recently he made the film "The Suicide Squad" (2021). Not to be confused with "Suicide Squad" (2016) which is not as good. Yep, that was "Howard the Duck" (1986), a film that was not very good. Yondu (Michael Rooker) is probably best known from the TV series "the Walking Dead". Groot's language does actually consist of just "I am Groot" with every sentence meaning something different. Yondu's actor is Michael Rooker and he's golden time was early 90's. He was in Days of thunder with Tom Cruise, JFK with Kevin Costner, Cliffhanger with Sylvester Stallone and Tombstone with Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer. Also you should watch Howard the Duck movie. I think it's the first live action marvel movie!

Yes a new Groot started to grow in the planter but that isn't the original Groot who sacrificed himself for his friends that is his son. There is a I am Groot short series you should check out now. It's not important to the MCU overarching story it's just fun little shorts also you don't have to worry about the I am Groot shorts series being listed in phase 4 it won't spoil anything if you check out the series now in the timeline.

James Gunn took inspiration from the main characters on Farscape to write these characters. Starlord is very much like John. Gamora is just like Claudia Black’s Aeryn, Drax is like D’Argo. Rocket is like the comic relief Rygel. Groot is like a combination of Pilot and Zhaan. Farscape is in Peacock, and Tubi. It was created by Brian Henson with the Henson Creature effects and Rockne O’Bannon who created V, Alien Nation and Seaquest.

Definitely check out some other James Gunn films! Slither is a very fun watch. Super is great but not exactly fun. He also wrote the Dawn of the Dead remake and the 2 live action Scooby-Doo movies. Thanks for the entertainment!

Keep in mind the MCU guardians are weaker than their comic book counterpart. For example comic Drax was a human place in a alien Divine body with the Pacific purpose to defeat Thanos so he was a lot stronger than Thanos. Now regarding the MCU Drax who is the lone survivor of his alien race after it was destroyed by Ronan on the order from Thanos isn't near the strong of the comic book version but that doesn't take away from his power which is around 100 tons while also having a durability Factor that could withstand a nuclear bomb. The only reason Ronan seem overwhelming to Drax was due to the fact ronan strength is equal to current Thor strength and power level rivals Thor's with the infinity stone in his universal Hammer weapon. Rocket is smarter than Tony Stark and Dr banner combined. Gamora has a strength level around 30 ton which attribute to her being the best assassin in the universe.
