Groot seems to exhibit a form of asexual reproduction akin to vegetative propagation. Likely, processes that involve cellular totipotency, meristematic tissue growth, and regenerative growth are all involved. From a biological perspective, it's likely Groot is the same Groot, regenerated from a remnant, a cutting, of the same organism. In the comics, Groot is often portrayed as retaining the essence and memories of himself across regenerations. However, at least within the MCU, there seems to be a bit of conflict/confusion regarding whether or not Baby Groots generated from cuttings are actually the same original Groot, whether they are separate entities that retain genetic/conscious memory of their prior selves, or whether they are genetic asexual duplicates but without any conscious memory of their progenitors. Kevin Feige, back in 2016, was reported to have responded to a backstage journalist query on Groot's death in GOTG. He mentioned that Baby Groot was not mentally a baby, equating his situation to Spock's rebirth in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. He suggested that Baby Groot, grown from a twig of the original Groot, retained the former's memories. James Gunn, the director of the trilogy, went on later to state Feige didn't understand his creative vision, and that Baby Groot was indeed a separate entity. There was a lot of back and forth between fans and Gunn, with some legitimate scientific arguments brought to bear. Ultimately, Groot is a fictional character and has a limited audience in the original comics. He was essentially catapulted to public attention due to the MCU's adoption of him in GOTG. In this sense, it's really a case of a director's whim as to character origins, development, retconning, etc. in whatever media production the character appears in. However, based on the totality of depictions within the MCU universe alone, the preponderance of evidence favors Gunn's explanation that the original Groot did indeed die in GOTG 1, and Baby Groot is, at least consciously, a separate entity.

in case no one answers the question. the species that groot is do speak, but it sounds to those unfamiliar with the language like a repeated phrase. as they get older they harden and it becomes harder for them to be understood by others. in the original comics with Groot, his story is he is from a planet where the trees rule society and the animals are a servile class. He is actually royalty. (This is not a spoiler because they will not go into it.)

There are by now mini baby Groot episodes on Disney+ that fit starting now. Howard the Duck is a legendary comic character. I think it is hard to represent other than in a comic book or animation and a voice actor. Back when music was either in the form of vinyl records or audio cassettes, the audio cassette was a way to save music in custom lists. If one owned a portable tape player, the music could be enjoyed anywhere. It also reduced wear & tear on vinyl albums. High fidelity brand audio tapes became available to save music recorded with top quality and wide ranges. It was also possible to save TV shows in audio form. This movie in use of music was most innovative and artfully done. We of course already have source music (characters hear it) and nonsource music (soundtrack music). Some of it is in more of a form of music video where the music and the action fit together. End titles also are fun to read and you can find list of all music used. Don't skip that!

I presume you spelled it correctly on screen :) (I don't have that particular y on my English keyboard, so that's as close as I can get with my PC.) "I am Groot" has many different meanings. It is how the words are heard, but not their meaning. Rocket wasn't talking to himself. Rocket understood Groot, we don't. Drax, Gamora and Quill don't at 33:00-34:00 Think of it like Star Wars, Han understands Chewbacca, later Luke and Leia understand Chewbacca. We still don't and many in that universe don't.

Yes, Howard the Duck is another famous Marvel comic character! 😉Having Howard the Duck show up at the end was such a fun cameo for this movie to do considering the history of Howard the Duck on film. They made a Howard the Duck movie back in the 1980s that was a legendary flop and generally considered one of the worst movies ever made! That said, it does still maintain a collection of fans as a cult film now. So, yeah, lots of comics fans were very surprised/pleased to see Howard show up for this comedic cameo (and very appropriate that Guardians of the Galaxy would be the movie to do it in).
