Love Istanbul. It's such a beautiful city. The mosques, history, colours, narrow quirky streets and architecture, baklava, tea and sweets. The people are friendly and hospitable. 4 nights is definitely enough and yes be prepared for lots of walking and steep hills, but it's the best way to see the city. Public transport links from the airport are usually quite good too if you don't want to get expensive taxis and most hotels also offer complimentary airport shuttle transfers or with a small fee too sometimes.
