I think he's trying to bait an attack to dodge and make a window for his own attack, but lumberjacks have different reach and he hasn't caught on to his hammer outranging their reach entirely.

He has been taught by the others to bait the attacks. The problem is that he is using the sledgehammer, so baiting attacks with the sledgehammer is a different mechanic. Honestly he should just use a spear then he gets extremely good reach and no need to bait attacks.

Been enjoying watching your show for years. You guys got me interested in ARK, and 7D2D. In my horde base there is a Thick 44 flag right where I fight the zombies, to show them that they are nobodies. Please keep making your shows, and love to all.

Same here, I never played ark or 7days before I started watching Neebs Gaming! I was skeptical for a bit because I never played anything but shooters my whole life 😂 but that first day on ark got me HOOKED on survival games. They should pay these guys a royalty or something I bet the game designers are definitely getting more business because of them and other gaming channels too

Neebs is usually the one left at base farming which becomes irrelevant after about 2-3 days so he doesn't really have much experience actually playing the game the boys usually play it for him while he sits back and paints their base

Another delightful episode! Horde sizes definitely starting to pick up. They're going to need to really pick up the pace on defenses and for the love of god KNOCK OUT THE STAIRS IN YOUR HOUSES. All they have to do is cut through the roof from the second floor but from the first floor they have no easy access. I made this map for them so if anyone has any map-related questions let me know. :D

Lovely Simon, you are underestimating the reach of the maul. It is also quite a bit slower. I'll explain in sound effects (from the moment you push the attack button to *hit*): the knife goes *SLICE* (immediatly). The club goes shwi*Bop,* but the maul goes Shwish-*Boop:* there is a full second between attacking and actually hitting.

hey Simon, got a tip for you, your getting hit by the zombies because you keep trying to bait them into swinging at you, what you need to do instead is just run in hit them immediately then quickly back away, the sledge hammer will stun them so they will be less likely to hit you back

Simon once learned to let zombies swing at him and if they miss you there's open to an attack. But he never quite learned how to make them miss. It's amazing watching someone let themselves get hit by a zombie before swinging at them. It's part of the helpless infant play style he has and it works.

Simon: Get's offered 500 cobblestone rocks for upgrading a day 3 horde base or a crafting skill magazine bundle (super useful for unlocking the forge early on) Also Simon: I don't think I want any of these... As far as he has come, he's still worse than someone who has been playing for less than a month. That was either 50 blocks of cobblestone upgrades (wood 500 hit points, cobblestone 2500) or a path to some early forge/other skills that can be reached in the first 7 days.

I do wonder with you all in the same area if the zombies will actually come for you individually. Did seem so this time. If I had to bet, I'd guess Dora or Appsro to win it, they're both pretty efficient, though Appsro is more cautious and prepared. Neebs prefers tactics so cautious as to lose time in the day, and can be so focussed on objective to miss opportunities. And Simon... rooting for you Simon!

I have played in hordes with a group where I have gotten sneak attacks, so my theory is that when zombies spawn during hordes, they are set on specific targets, then we have Dora shooting everything all night that probably just draws them to him.

05:30 That stupid rubble pile is why I banished that office building to the far end of the map in later versions (I made this map). When you have a steel pick and can nuke it in two hits, it's a minor nuisance at most, but early game with only a stone ax that can be a lethal corner to get stuck in.

Simon's attacking style is funny; he attempts to wait until the zombie's strike. 😂 However, this strategy never worked well, and in alpha 21, zombies have more reach, makes it even more ineffective. A better approach would be to try to stay out of reach (alpha 21 zombies have increase range, so retrain your brain) and strike first before the zombies can close in (before zombie start hitting animation), which works well with sledgehammers and spears.
