My labor was in slow motion. I swore the doctor when he walked in was taking his sweet time, chatting with the nurses, chilling. I had one push left and he barely caught the baby. I was like "can i push??" And he was like "yes m'am OH HELLO!" My husband afterward told me the doctor was amazingly fast, communicated with nurses about what the situation was, etc. I said it took like five minutes and my husband said 30 seconds, a minute max 😂

@@AccidentallyOnPurpose I didn't mean that doctors were concerned with that during maternity and birth. That is a misconception I have heard from a lot of people in general. A lot of people are under the false assumption that body hair removal is basic hygiene, and that having it is unhygienic, which is just not true.
@rachelmarie22288 ай бұрын
@@AccidentallyOnPurpose I was a competitive dancer, so I kind of had to wax, shave, etc and I actually used to get lectured by my mother and my obgyn about how pubic hair was more hygienic and healthy than removing it. I have never known an obgyn or any type of doctor who cared about any kind of body hair, apart from surgeries where they specifically tell you to shave and wash with a special antibacterial soap they give you first. I had some hip procedures and used to regularly get cortisone shots in my hip joints, and therapy for them, and no one ever even cared about shaving or waxing for the injections, and your hip joint is literally in your groin. I usually had anyways, because of dance and personal preference/ routine, but the surgeons always mentioned that I didn't need to for injections. I always assured them that I knew that and didn't do it for the procedures though, that it was my normal for other reasons.

my mom’s first pregnancy and birth, with my brother, labor and pushing took 20 hours in total. she was pushing forever. he came out purple and blue alllll over, and they didn’t get many pictures of him as a fresh newborn because of how battered he looked. he was healthy, nothing wrong with him, he just looked totally beaten. when i came along, the doctor barely made it to catch me. everyone in the room said it was the quickest birth they had ever witnessed in their whole history of being a labor nurse/doctor/etc. from how my mom tells it, the labor and pushing took maybe five minutes, if that. crazy to know she literally experienced both very extreme sides of the spectrum. i like to think even as an infant, i didn’t want to put her through all that again. we always joked that my brother just didn’t want to leave, he built a house in there and refused to be evicted, and that i just couldn’t wait to get the hell out 😂 might be true, also considering that he was born a month late, and i was born two weeks early. after what she experienced, she deserved a quick, easy, healthy birth! thank you to all the wonderful labor nurses!

With our first son, I had never gone on any maternity courses, and thankfully I had the most amazing delivery nurse. She was super supportive, direct about what I needed to be doing and made me feel like I could do anything I set my mind to - she made me feel "of course I can birth a healthy baby without any medical help or painkillers - woman have been doing it for centuries, your body was made for this - but lets keep an open mind for a c-sec in case of an emergency". She stayed hours after the end of her shift to be there to help bring our beautiful boy into this world. The next morning, surprisingly, she walked into the maternity ward, directly up to me, wrapped me in her arms, kissed me on my forehead, hugged me the tightest hug ever and whispered in my ear "I knew you could do it, and I'm so proud of you!" She cuddled our son and told him how strong his mom was and how happy she was to help bring him into this world. Still brings tears to my eyes and an extra thump in my heart, 12 years later. There are still not enough words to thank her for empowering me, encouraging me and celebrating my strength and determination through over 36 hours of labour - for half of it I didnt realise I was in labour until I was 4 cm dilated - after all that time, our boy needed that hat for his cone head 😂 (for context I had a very lonely, rough, physically abusive and emotionally abusive childhood, so my self esteem and self worth were almost at rock bottom - I didnt believe I could do anything on my own, because I was always told I would fail). With our second son, our "soul mate" delivey nurse was on leave when I went into labour, so we were lumped with the locum. All I can say is thank goodness for my husband and my gynae, if it weren't for those 2 amazing men - Firstly, I would have probably ended up with a son with some degree of brain damage - his ambilical cord was wrapped around his neck during delivery which the gynae saw straight away walking into the delivery room and immediately asked me to stop pushing, he clamped and cut the cord so quickly so I could continue pushing him out - the locum at the time was out the room doing lord knows what - at the time our son was almost both shoulders out of me. Secondly, I would have ended up with a severe concussion if it wasnt for my husband catching me after the delivery nurse completely let go of me whilst she was "helping" me off the delivery bed to use the bathroom about 20min after giving birth. My husband was pissed, he just completely took over by telling her "thank you, but I can take it from here". He was amazing, he sat me in a chair in the maternity shower, he washed me, washed my hair (at my request), dried me, popped my maternity panties on, helped me into my nursing bra and nightie and assisted me back to my ward (and no she didn't come visit us in the ward afterwards 😂) . Thankfully after all that, our youngest son is amazing and the sweestest most caring little soul - 10 years later. I am wholeheartedly celebrating all you wonderful, caring, sympathetic and empowering delivey nurses - you are beyond amazing!!

@@BIRTHDEFECTEDRAT nope. 17 hours stuck on my left side with a wedge behind me so I couldn't move. My whole left side was numb and I could feel everything on my right. Also had to have an emergency C-section

@@daniellethomas2099 oh my god you're queen👑 for real! I could not imagine! I am a teen but I have a son and I would have assaulted the nurses if they didn't let me move😭💀

@@BIRTHDEFECTEDRAT it was really rough. Currently pregnant with my second and trying for a vaginal birth with a different doctor. So ginger crossed this goes better

My labor nurse was amazing. I told her I wasn’t ready and she said “now’s the time to be ready or not. It’s time to just do it.” 😂❤ held my hand as I went under for my emergency c-section because my husband wasn’t allowed.

I couldn't imagine trying to shave if I could barely reach down there
