For anybody who wants to continue boating in the winter there are a couple things to keep on board that will help you. You can go online or go into a large camping supply store like camping world. They have a water hose that has a built-in heater. It will stop the water in the hose from freezing as long as the power stays on. You also want to keep a snow shovel or two on board. Most people don't realize that the number one thing that will sink a boat is a buildup of snow. I remember in 2010 that we really was not seeing for snow amounts that we normally did as long as I have been alive. The winter of 2010 made up for all the snow we hadn't seen close to 10 years there were so many boats that were not prepared. So many boats went down tied to the dock. If you are staying someplace that water freezes around your boat you only have really two options. Have your boat pulled out every winter or buy a special device that keeps the water moving around the outside of the boat. Depending on the size of your boat you might need two or more. And if you have your boat in the water during the winter you really need to go check on it.

were you born in 97? lol 96 was a hella winter so was 98 in Tofino Nanaimo. I was born and raised on the water and before 99 not many boats sunk from snow because people that owned boats were mariners. Then money came down the pipe and all hands bought boats which prompted a course because they had no clue and those that did have a clue read it in a book which means they didnt have a clue lol

Vancouver is amazing. Stanley Park, Granville Isle, The whole water side walkway, take a tour on a seaplane if you can, and also, eat, eat, eat all over. In summer the Butgart Gardens, and the Botanical Gardens, and, I can't remember but the old part of town, with Steam and clocks, etc. I lvoe each time I visit. Also, they have a huge Fireworks Festival.

What a trip! Great tour around Van. As a local Vancouverite I still enjoyed seeing what you loved to check out. Granville Island is a definite jewel and a foodie’s dream. Next time you come, I recommend heading over to North Van on the Seabus and heading for a hike up Grouse mountain if you can, or over to Deep Cove for a hike up Quarry Rock. Makes for an amazing Vancouver day.

GREAT video and look at Vancouver. I live half the year in Vancouver and my boat is at the Vancouver Yacht Club. Mooring on our docks is unavailable but False Creek is ok. It’s beautiful and safe at Granville Island and you can walk almost anywhere in Vancouver safely except a few blocks in the east side. Unlike the US city I live in that dangerous almost all the time with a horrendous crime rate. These few negative comments about Vancouver are typically from jealous wankers who can’t live your lifestyle. Well done, cheers…

The last five years I lived in Vancouver I had the most awesome commute to work in the world. I left my home down by Stanley Park, rode my bike along English Bay and Sunset Beaches, GOT AN AQUABUS TO WORK EVERY MORNING (!!!), rode across Granville Island and worked just over the other side of the island. Going home I would often ride around False Creek. One dark evening near Christmas I was next to an open door on the Aquabus, waiting as people got on. There were Christmas lights and the lights from the bridge and a seal rolled along my side of the boat with the lights reflecting in its wet back. Pretty much as good as it gets!

The large motor yacht you panned to while leaving the marina in false creek is the M.V HOTEI famous for being the home of "Mel and Susan Profitt" played by Kevin Spacey and Joan Severance respectively on the CBS show "Wiseguy" filmed in the Metro Vancouver area in 1988 , I like your boat , if you want a nice place to anchor that is sheltered from winter storms try Pender Harbor, the garden bay marina has full facilities and a grocery store and there is a super market and pub further ashore, Robin Williams used to have a summer place there.

My home port, but what a wonderful tour! From all the blue skies you showed us on your video, it's always that way in Vancouver, right? Never mind, when it rains, the locals head to Granville Island. My mother grew up 2 blocks from the Kitsilano Pool, where she took swimming lessons and performed at the summer Kitsilano Showboat stage, just in front of the pool. It is a unique place. Been to Vancouver a couple times and it's a beautiful city. We did wet dock for a week and a half at One Canada Place on one of the Princess ships before they sailed to Alaska. The whole crew ended up going up to Grouse Mountain any other ski resort which had just shut down the day before and then we went to the suspension bridge and also the trout hatchery. Only place I've been to where I watched an Orca actually snatch up a sea lion.

Granville Island Market is a great place for arts and food, probably the best food court in town. 😊 Unfortunately right adjacent to the downtown core, called the East Side has the poorest district in Canada where poverty, crime and drugs are present. An area that has those kind of problems close to an area of wealth and affluence is going to cause problems, so its recommended to not venture into the East Side for it really is dangerous, I have lived in Vancouver for over 60 years. 😟
