This was a great video guys! This is Andy, I'm the "ole" guy who had offered to perform your wedding. I'm in the Atlanta area. What you are doing in this video, is so very important to people who are having difficulties in finding answers to problems that you are so beautifully articulating in your descriptions. I have in my past work, encountered couples that needed just what you have included in this video. Alec, you would make a wonderful therapist, maybe working in the mental health field would be an ideal field for you when you're considering what you want to do. I've worked in the field for over 45 years, and see you having what it takes to be a great therapist.

Definitely doing that as best I can. Even in me baking so often it's all with a plan in mind and are just my first steps in executing. I am a very intentional person, both in words and action so I try to make sure I always keep that purpose at the center of anything I do. But you just never know what they are monitoring from what we share so we just take extra caution to ensure we can enjoy the life we envisioned in the future. Thanks for the encouragement KayCee! I discovered your channel this past week, and throughly enjoy you guys. After being forced to join Instagram a couple of months ago, you're the first and only people I've followed. I think you guys are so necessary. I believe people have a hard time of seeing homosexual as anything more than the who they have sex with and for some reason, I'll never understand take it personally. You guys help to show that you are so much more than that. Who you love or are intimate with is not the sum total of who you are. Watching some of your videos gives me hope that Jamaica will get there eventually. Probably a long time from now, but the tides seem to be turning. I have to say those videos of you guys especially Alec in Jamaica made me nervous has hell, even though intellectually are know you're fine. I applaud your bravery, especially Alec, but only because I'm Jamaican and I know our history when it comes to gay people. Keep shining and being a light.

Thank you so much for taking the time out to not only share your perspective with us, but to also leave us with such positive words. We share a lot of the same thoughts as you but realize not everyone has the same opinions, empathy or willingness to try and understand people who may live a bit differently than themselves. When we have been in Jamaica we really have tried our best to avoid crowds, or public spaces we know that might potentially be unsafe for us, but we thought it very important to share that part of our lives too in the hope that it would touch people, like myself, who Identify anywhere on the LGBTQ+ spectrum and happen to be from the Caribbean as well. The response not only from the community but allies, and even some heterosexual people who admit that they weren't accepting before seeing our love really has been so inspiring for us. So know that your words keep us going and encouraged!

This was some real grown people *ish. I think this has been one of the most open and honest (and sometimes difficult) conversations I listened to on KZbin. My take aways were to always communicate, openly, honestly, without fear of not being heard or understood. Then there was this. When Brian said that he (Alec) left everything and everyone he loved to be with him (Brian), I was like dam. That's why he gives Alec grace and Alec gives Brian grace. Whew, this was a lot gentlemen but thank you for being authentic, and butt ass naked honest and not a fake KZbin caricature. We felt EVERYTHING you're experiencing. Thank you for sharing that that is so very personal.

Hi Brain and Alec.🤗 It's me Christian. Great to see you again. I'm still watching. I hear you. I'm listening and acknowledge your feelings. Identifying your emotions that you are experiencing is equal parts exhilarating and scary. General anxiety, loneliness, homesickness, relationship problems, isolation, loss of purpose, and feelings of not belonging can be overwhelming. Life is unpredictable. You never realize quite how strongly tied to the culture of your home country you are until you move abroad and are faced with a culture that is markedly different than your own. And the culprit can be in living situations. Immersing yourself in a new culture can make you feel isolated. Culture shock can be triggered by anything. This is perfectly normal. Because you are experiencing these emotions, I want you to know that you are not doing anything wrong. Marriage adjustments take time, so be patient with each other and trust the process. Go easy on yourselves, give yourselves permission to lean on each other, don't get caught up in routines. And remember the golden rule here and treat your spouse the way you want them to treat you.Keep trusting in the magic of new beginnings.☺Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations, gentlemen! You have officially entered the next phase of "Adulting And Maturing 202!" In the words of my late wise grandmother, "Marriage is not a two week vacation! It takes hard and consistent work to succeed." That hard work is in both same sex and heterosexual marriages. Continue to build and strengthen your bond. Your marriage is just between the two of you. No one else. Not your friends or family. Your growth is showing! Let it continue to flourish depending only on God and yourselves. Thank you guys for being so transparent and open. Alec I feel your pain when you say you question your worth. I had the same issue, being disabled and my partner is the main bread winner in our relationship, I too question myself like do I deserve to be in a relationship with someone at this time. He gets up and goes to work everyday, and I am just home tending to the needs of the house the best that I can. He told me that I should never question my worth because tending to the house is a bigger, and harder job then him going to work everyday. Making sure there is a meal prepared (even if it Leftovers) He doesn't have to come home and do the stuff of the house. So no you may not be contributing financially but those little things that you do to make Brian's home life easier is sometimes even better. Brian is going to live you regardless of the finances. I can tell how much you love him, every single time you say his name you light up like a 175 watt light bulb. And I live the both of you for it. Continue to live on each other and keep those lines of communication open ❤️🧡💛💚💜💙

I understand how difficult it can be, especially when the topic is more serious in nature. Second, I really dislike how capitalism has folks tie their self-worth to their ability to work. People are so much more than vessles that exist to work and while that's something we can understand intrinsically, it can be incredibly challenging to fully comprehend, particularly during rough patches. This is so enlightening and encouraging. I spent a week in Ocho Rio and met someone special. Unfortunately, the circumstances immigration wouldn’t grant the approval. I’ve been single for a few years and I’m optimistic I will find love. Hope to meet you guys someday. Congratulations again🎉

Thank you both for taking the time to share your experience with us, I understand your feelings of loneliness being in the US, I left Ireland in 1979 to live in London UK, mainly because of the level of homophobia, but because I'd left a fairly large family 9 of us to live on my own was extremely difficult emotionally, thankfully I'm a fairly sociable person and made friends pretty quickly, I coped reasonably well and stayed in London for 30 years only returning in 2009 and now I'm having a pretty good time that I've retired

I know that my situation isn't an anomaly in any way. And with that time I believe I have used it to set rungs in place for the ladder I intend to climb. Working on my craft with baking isn't just for fun, and there have been other areas of learning that I have developed in the meantime with the downtime as well which we haven't showcased which will definitely help me when the time comes to hit the ground running and use my professional experience to my advantage. I count myself as lucky though to have someone like Brian who is understanding, patient, and encouraging and also sees value in me doing other things to make his and our family life a more enriched one.

I think scared is a strong word. Overly cautious perhaps. All our socials are monitored with the information we submit and to be honest I have quite a lot at stake knowing that me being so openly public about my sexuality is openly bashed in my home country. I'm just doing what I think is best to ensure me a future that I can live to enjoy with Brian and my family here.

I love your videos and glad that you share so openly for others to learn from. Good for Alec for the way that he sees the world because if you don’t place yourself in a precarious position (undocumented driving) then you severely mitigate any risk which can jeopardize your permanence in the US. And for Brian - I’m not sure why you believe that unpaid medical bills in this country doesn’t hit your credit because it absolutely does. Any debt that can be sent for collections can ruin your financial future. Keep making great videos and all the best for resolution soon with immigration.

Excellent Share! Thanks. I can tell you two will proceed with care and continued love ❤. 6 years in and 4 of those years married now and filling out his N-400 Citenzinship forms it's been a long ride for us. We still pulling in the same direction ❤. It helped once after two years in, we got all his stuff approved and he could travel home and spend the winter at his house in DR. He will be leaving after Thanksgiving and I'll join him in Feb and stay the rest of winter there with him and we'll return to the states in spring. It's been cool to have houses in both countries and I get to see him and live in his environment 👏🏽. It's all been worth the work and wait. Hang in there👍🏾.

The process of becoming a legal citizen here and married, seems like the government had you two go through hoops loops, chutes and ladders. From what I see, both Brian and Alec are very genuine and very down to earth about how this journey has been for both perspectives. Great video and happy four month anniversary to you both! (Technically, tomorrow 11/8). Love you guys! 🫶🏾🏳️🌈

Well still have us going through them. But this is not specific to us at all. This really is just the journey of an immigrant for most. Different circumstances in many cases but there are many commonalities that bind out experiences together. We really hope in sharing that it helps someone else to know that they aren't alone in their experience too. Thanks for the wishes! We didn't even realize ourselves haha. Hey my Guys I enjoyed y’all as always. I want to say to Alec when you feel down just remember you took a leap of faith that most people, myself included probably won’t ever have the courage to do. You & Brian have both took a chance on Love and sometimes in our community it’s a hard thing to find even when you local. You both had faith which was all you need to just believe it could work. No nothing perfect but Love. So Alec use that say faith that brought you here to get out and drive to see your friends when there here😁 and lastly remember the best is yet to come. Have a Blessed week & Be encouraged. Looking forward to great things for you guys. ❤❤💙

Good luck with your upcoming midterms. The whole world is watching and crossing fingers, toes, everything flexible. This video is so interesting. Thank you for sharing. Your immigration is cheaper than the UK’s! It costs my son and daughter-in-law have to pay £3000 every two and a half years for her temporary residency visa. After two lots, there are two more to go before they could apply for permanent residence (after ten years) for an equally eye watering amount. They won’t do that. They’ll go back to the Pacific, I’m sure. Britain isn’t that great a place since Brexit and given the Republican-equivalent party who’s governed us, very badly, for 12 years. Ye gods. Absolutely agree about the split between old and new countries.
@MeetTheMazelins2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Dugald. Oh wow, that's interesting how different it is in different countries. That's a whole lot of money though! The permanent residence here is 5 years for less than half the cost really.

OMG! You know I have been following your beautiful and heartfelt journey for a while now. As a flight attendant who also has a 2nd job on some weekends and who is back and forth to the Dominican Republic (where my sweetheart lives) I've been playing "catch-up" to keep up with you two...but when I do, you never cease to make my heart smile!!! As I am currently sending this message from Santo Domingo, I am happy to report that my daughter came here to meet my guy two weeks ago and it all went extremely well! My 2nd son (yes, I have three children) is coming this weekend! Even though my children are young adults, I wanted to get them here to meet him because when he does come to the states, I didn’t want him to be a stranger to them. (Drumroll….)I plan to surprise my guy (if I can successfully get the days I need off) and propose on Christmas Day! I plan on getting the K-1 paperwork started as soon as the ring (yeah, it's a nice one too LOLOL) is on his finger!!! Thank you for giving me (and us) a real heads-up about some of the challenges we may face, and what can be expected as we fill out forms and wait for the evolution of our new commitment and goals to come to fruition. (I want you to know that I literally took notes as I listened carefully and even wrote down ALL those “I” numbers, LOL). Like you Alec, my man is very proud of what he has achieved and is used to being a self-sufficient person. He immigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti (19 years ago) and has been successful at carving out a better life for himself and also has been able to help his family. What the two of you have shared gives me a glimpse of what he and I need to talk about, work on, and prepare for “emotionally” as we head toward building a life together in the United States. There is one thing that I want to say to hopefully continue to encourage you as your lives as a married couple continues to progress. EVERYTHING you’re going through now is only for a season…although admittedly a different, sometimes difficult, and challenging one! NO DOUBT, the paperwork WILL eventually be finalized, and you will be able to work, drive, and build yourself in a new way that will continue to bless you and your relationship! In the meantime, the love you both have will certainly continue to sustain you! That’s what love is for…in those times that are the most challenging, is when love shines the brightest! Brian and Alec...your love shines bright! I can only pray for patience that is kindred to yours, as my man and I embark on a very similar journey in the year ahead! THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing so openly and honestly! You both continue to inspire and bless as you allow us these glimpses into your world! Sending ♥to you both!
