@@danielr5593 The turn still feels like ace but limited to an extent. It's like you still have most of the Aces turning ability at your disposal(after the bushing break in) and more stability in the center. I skated indie, venture, tensor before switching to thunder, and then I was a Thunder Man™ for a long time. I didn't skate for 14 years and when I started back up in 2019, because my oldest son wanted to learn to skate, I bought a set of thunders because that's what I was used to riding, but after about a year skating those I wanted to try something new so I got some Krux K4 DLKs and rode those for about two years before switching to Ace AF1s and that's what I've been on for the last year or so. I really like how surfy they are but they definitely have affected how I skate. Centering my weight before an Ollie and controlling manuals feels like it takes more effort for sure, and I can totally understand, with how loose they feel, them not being someone's cup of tea for every situation, or any situation for that matter. Sometimes you need coffee Also, random question, I read the name on your forearm in the thumbnail, are y'all Greek?
@diplenski5 ай бұрын
i like venture and indy. i have some thunder lows from the '90s i really liked but both pairs slipped axles and it kinda soured me on the brand. i recently got a cheap complete off fb marketplace with thunder forged hollows to give them another go. i'd say i like them, but they feel kinda dainty and fragile compared to venture and indy. maybe just bc they're so light.
@danielr55935 ай бұрын
@@diplenski I've never set up any ultra light trucks companies had to offer, although I have been interested in trying them out. The Krux I rode had a hollow axle, and that along with the Krux K-hole, made them pretty light. I was constantly checking the axles on them though, because they looked like they were starting to bend a little and it seemed like my wheels were starting to cone faster. I understand what you mean about light trucks feeling more delicate. I know I personally tend to associate overbuilt and robust with quality and durability

@@danielr5593 the indy forged hollows are nice too. i prefer cast plates and standard weight trucks, i don't really see much benefit to hollow/light trucks unless you're going bigger than 8.5" which i'm unlikely to do. but the difference is noticeable in how your board behaves and how long you can skate.

I found out about Aces when i worked at Empire distribution in Hayward because they would pay us in product. I was out of the skate world about 7 years & when i started back up several years ago i remembered that i had really liked Aces, but id only skated 03s, the lows which are 49mm tall so super low. The AF1 came out & all of those were only highs, but after a lot of research i found 44 hollows that are actually 49mm tall. Was gonna try Lurpiv but are all 55mm. Tried Thunder Hollow Lights & could not even hold a manual like 2 feet. From what ive been told is that Thunder only makes taller trucks. I think Ventures are down to 47mm!!
