I guess if you decide that you don't want to continue to receive the food, at least you end up with a few new recipes that you might have never tried on your own. Winning!

You guys should try Blue Apron instead. They're a little more reputable. They also give you an option to choose certain types of dishes you'd prefer, and lets you completely opt out of different dishes as well (like no pork, no meat and seafood, etc..) Their directions are easier to follow as well, in my opinion. I suck at cooking, but was able to make some pretty great food fairly easily.

Try a clear plastic squeeze bottle with a skinny nozzle for your olive oil...like the one for condiments. That's what we put our oil in, and it's so much easier to drizzle.

Jenn try making stuffed zucchini with stovetop stuffing. Boil the zucchini for 5 mins. Then scoop the boats out and add the scooped zucchini to the stovetop mix. Stuff them then bake for twenty mins@350 degrees. I like adding diced tomatoes to mine. Enjoy!

What you should have done is taken the temperature of the meat when it arrived. If it is stored correct it should be under 5 degrees. Anything over 8 degrees can be risky as bacteria starts to grow after that, particularly if the meat has been left out for a long time. I would just put the whole thing straight from the delivery into a fridge instead of taking it all out and laying it on a table. You dont need to risk your health to show us what food you are having for the week. This is part of what i do for a living every day. Meats are a high risk product. Always better to be cautious.

I know I am like, way late to the party- but the thing that gets me about the Hello Fresh deal (and all other dinner subscriptions) is the fact that there's so much garbage! Boxes, baggies, etc.. We both hate taking out the garbage, so the more we can cut down on that, the better. The finished product does always look good, though!

I totally agree with your conclusion that we probably eat meat that has been at room temperature at the store. We just don't see it. I'm sure a lot of the frozen foods melt and refreeze. Don't worry about meat from the store, we have something called the 30 min rule. If refrigerated/frozen foods are left out for longer than 30 mins then it's no longer fit for sale. It's good to use as a guide at home

what i usually do to have more control over oil is to put it in squeeze bottle, have to say much easier to use when cooking and when using the broil setting on your oven, it's recommended to leave the oven door cracked and to put one of the cooking racks on the highest bar and set the plate on the middle bar
@TheTimTracker8 жыл бұрын
Oh, that's interesting! I didn't know that about the broil setting. I wonder why you have to leave the door cracked?
@KLW10148 жыл бұрын
When the oven is broiling, its heating something at a very high temperature which creates smoke, if you leave the door open it helps to vent the smoke/steam

I know it's a lot of work, but if you open the meat and it smells ok, I would cook up those meals right away and then eat them promptly as left overs, but by cooking them asap should help. Still, if there is any doubt, just dump it. You could replace the meat and dairy with fresh from the store and still prepare the recipes. Just some ideas, be careful, don't want you guys sick!

I would be more concerned if there were large ice crystals since that is evidence of food being refrozen which is grounds to reject a frozen product. Also, as long as it is delivered to you below 41 degrees Farenheit, it is good to eat the product. This has been drilled into me since my degree is Consumer Foods and I work in food service. Just some info if you decide to continue the subscription.

Interesting. The first week we got the box everything was still very cold and the ice packs were still very frozen. This week the ice packs were a little more melted. I think it would stay colder if they shipped it in styrofoam rather than that fiber filled stuff.
