I first had a long distance relationship, fiancée when I was 19 -21, he was a boy I had known since secondary/high school, but we did not connect until after school, by this time he was in the British Navy, and in the 80's all we had was dial phones in the house and Royal Mail Postal Service. Jump 20 years to me being 41 and meeting a man online, he lived 6000 miles away in the US, by this time we had email and Skype and disposable income to pursue our relationship. Jump 15 years I am now close to 57 and I live alone. I am so happy for you both, do not overthink the gaps I have left empty, life is a journey, every day a lesson and everyone a teacher, on reflection and with a little wisdom I am thankful for all I experienced. I have always gone for IT in life, and I have no regrets, and I am encouraged to see that you two are taking time to get to know each other. Obviously one half of this adorable couple is going to have to move, and before you take this exciting leap of faith make sure the aforementioned establishes work, friends, independent activities and a savings safety net.
