Fun fact! NCT Dream are a group that basically grew up together because they became trainees when they were young and also debuted young. Mark (2012), Haechan, Jaemin, and Jeno (joined 2013) became trainees when they were 13, Jisung (joined 2013) became a trainee when he was 11, Renjun (joined 2015) became a trainee when he was 15, and Chenle (2016) joined and debuted with the rest of NCT dream at 14. Now they’re 8 years into their career and their youngest members Chenle and Jisung just turned 22 and their oldest member Mark is turning 25 this year.

Mark was actually got in SM through his vocal!! His dad is a vocal trainer. But he interested in rap after he became a trainee. He graduated from SOPA dance major. Then he debuted as a main rapper and main dancer of NCT. He joined High School Rapper in 2017 to proof himself and made it to the finals (believe me there was so many ppl who underestimated SM’s rapper back then). Now he currently has 79 songwriting credits (2nd in SM after his senior, BoA). He literally can do everything even guitar and piano. Thats why a lot of knetz and nonfans called Mark as one of the ace of kpop🤩

I know! Rappers in SM know how to sing! I think that’s partly because they originally love singing and music in general. Like Chanyeol from EXO also loved playing instruments like Mark. I’m also pretty sure Mark said in an interview that he loved singing the most, which is probably why you see him singing in his solo songs

To understand NCT-Dream's style and sound you have to understand the concept of the group. When they debuted, they were all teenagers. The whole point of this group is to appeal to fans in their age group. Kpop is full of young groups who are trying to attract an older, more mature audience. Therefore, I think SM Entertainment was pretty clever to create this sub-unit as a way to catch the attention of a younger demographic. Why not market music to a younger audience? I think it's kind of refreshing that SM decided to start NCT-Dream out with more of a family-friendly concept because all the members were actually still children. In their Killing Voice performance, from left to right, the members are: > Mark is the leader of Dream, the main rapper and a dancer (that is also an amazing singer because he is a member of SM Entertainment.) Mark is also an original member of NCT-U, NCT-127 and SuperM; he is Korean-Canadian. > RenJun is a main vocalist; he is Chinese (He actually learned Korean as a child and was bilingual in Mandarin and Korean before joining SM. Everyone jokes that he is more fluent in Korean than the Korean members.) >Jeno is a lead rapper (who became the main rapper and de facto leader when Mark "graduated.") > Jaemin is a lead rapper, lead dancer and sub-vocalist. > Jisung was the youngest member of all of NCT for 7 years, who happens to also be one of the tallest, and the member with the deepest voice. He is the main dancer, a vocalist and sub-rapper, as well as one of the best dancers in NCT, so he is the one with the dance breaks in most of their songs. (However, now that NCT-WISH just debuted a few days ago, new member Sakuya, who is currently 15, is now officially the maknae of NCT.) > Chenle is a main vocalist; he is Chinese. (He is a child prodigy who was a fairly famous actor and singer as a child in China.) > Haechan (the one who often has the high notes) is a main vocalist and lead dancer; he is also a member of NCT-127, who had pink hair in the NCT-127 Killing Voice performance. NCT-Dream is NCT's third sub-unit, which began in August 2016, and it is made up of the 7 youngest members of NCT at the time. All the Dream members are currently between the ages of 21-24 years old -- they were 14-17 when they debuted. (They are no longer the youngest members now that NCT's 5th sub-unit, NCT-WISH, is about to debut with 6 new members, making NCT a 26-member group in total.) SM originally created this sub-unit with the idea that if they had a trainee that they felt was ready to debut even though they were really young, they would start out as a member of NCT-Dream. They were the cute babies of the group who were learning the ropes and honing their skills because they are young, but they are also some of the most talented because they debuted way sooner than a lot of trainees. The way NCT-Dream originally was designed to work was that the members were part of the group until they turn 19 and become an adult. SM's original plan was that when the members turned 19, they were supposed to graduate from the group and they were no longer considered a member of NCT-Dream. Mark "graduated" from NCT-Dream in 2018, and Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and RenJun, we thought would be graduating in 2019. (Which would have left NCT-Dream with only 2 members, with the idea that new trainees would probably debut sometime in 2020 and become members of NCT-Dream.) However, SM announced at the beginning of 2020 that they decided to make NCT-Dream a permanent group and suspend the whole " graduation" concept, including putting Mark back in the group. As you heard, with their debut song "Chewing Gum" they started out with a very young and cute concept that fit the fact that they were all teenagers. But over the years, their style and concept has grown and evolved like the members of the group. Any songs from 2016-17 you should expect to have that cute, young vibe. It wasn't until their "Boom" comeback era, after Mark had "graduated" and the members were starting to grow up, that their style and sound really started to take on a more mature edge. NCT-Dream's "Candy" on the other hand, is a remake of the iconic song "Candy" by SM's very first Idol group H.O.T. in 1996. Therefore, if you look up NCT-Dream's MV, you will see it's supposed to be a homage to H.O.T.'s original version. If you compare Dream's version with H.O.T.'s original MV, you will see all the similarities in NCT-Dream's MV. Dream's version takes the iconic, nostalgic style of H.O.T.'s song and adds modern elements to update it for the new century. H.O.T.'s original song is about being addicted to a girl like a piece of candy. Even though you want to break up with her and stop seeing her, she keeps luring you back in with her sweetness and beauty. Like your favorite candy, you can't give her up no matter how hard you try. As you will see, NCT-Dream's version of the song reinterprets the song and gives it a different meaning. "Candy" is one of H.O.T.'s most iconic songs, and literally every new group, both boy groups and girl groups, learn the song and choreography and they perform it on music programs as one of their rookie performances. I doubt you could find a Kpop artist -- or even a Korean of any age -- who doesn't know H.O.T.'s "Candy." That is why NCT-Dream's version is so meaningful for anyone who knows the song's history and one of the reasons why it has quickly become so popular. "Hot Sauce" was on their first full length album, which came out in 2021, but it is NOT their first album. They have been producing mini albums and full group NCT albums since 2016. In "Glitch Mode" NCT- Dream is comparing falling in love to being stuck in a video game. Thoughts of that person that they have a crush on make them feel like they are stuck like a glitch in a malfunctioning video game, and they can't break free or move on because the glitch keeps them stuck there. The MV and live stages look like a video game or arcade, etc. because the whole concept is supposed to be video game themed. "We Go Up" is considered Mark's "graduation" song. Some of the scenes in the MV are actually the members just celebrating Mark's last MV with the NCT-Dream members and the members saying goodbye to him as their leader, etc. That's why this song and MV is full of feels. Mark is the oldest member of NCT-Dream and he had recently turned 19 right before their "We Go Up" comeback, so that is why that song was a graduation celebration. "ISTJ" was Dream's newest song, which is why you heard the whole song because they were on Dingo's Killing Voice to promote their "ISTJ" comeback. To get to know NCT-Dream better, you should check out their MVs in order of when they were released. As you will start to discover as you go along, you will see and hear how their style has grown and changed over time. That is also part of the group's concept. As the members grow and mature so too does their sound and style. That is why they debuted with their song "Chewing Gum," which has a very cute and bubbly concept that fits the fact that they were all teenagers at the time. They had to grow and mature into the sound you hear now. SM's no dummy when it comes to creating groups that gain global popularity. It just goes to show you why it's one of the Big 3 entertainment companies in the world. :D As mentioned before, NCT stands for Neo (a pop culture term that means new-original) Culture Technology, which is what the group as a whole is designed to be. They are a new and original concept and style of Kpop group that embraces all cultures and technologies to reach everyone around the world. Fun fact: Neo City is the city that NCT is from. Because the group is made up of so many diverse members who are from all over the world, when they come together as one group, they are said to reside in Neo City. Turquoise hair is Park Jisung (aka my profile picture) he’s so talented he’s one of NCT’s main dancers along with Ten and Taeyong, sings and raps equally, he’s also one of the idols when performing you can see he loves his job and dancing and performing. He’s been NCT’s maknae the past 8 years until the new unit. He also has one of my favorite personalities out of all the k-pop idols i stan because i think it’s so interesting that he’s in this industry while having such a shy almost timid personality, but it works because despite always being nervous before performing it’s like he becomes a completely different person when the music starts playing.

chenle’s technique is actually really weak tbh so idk where you’re getting all that because not one person who can sing or who knows anything about vocal technique is saying all that 😬he can’t support at all, for starters, and even in this video you could hear how most of his ad,ins were in falsetto he rarely mixes or used chest voice for high notes because of how nasally and thin his voice. He sings with an extremely raised larynx which makes his voice shaky, thin and airy in higher registers. In contrast, haechan doesn’t a LOT of belting in his chest voice (full voice if you’d rather)showing a throng sense of support and technique. He literally belts up to E5 here in his chest voice and his voice is loud and powerful

Since others have given their names already, I'll give their heights as far as I know. From shortest to tallest: Renjun is around 5'7" Mark is 5'8" Haechan is around 5'9" Jeno, Jaemin, and Chenle are 5'10 or slightly taller Jisung is 5'11" but may be 6' by now. Converting centimeters to feet is still hard for me so I could be off a little.

A little history : NCT DREAM debuted in august 2016 a month after NCT 127 They are composed of 7 members Mark Renjun Jeno Haechan Jaemin Chenle and Jisung. MARK and Haechan are actually in NCT 127 too. when DREAM debuted, Mark the oldest member was 15 and the youngest Jisung was 14 average of 15.6 y.o They actually had a Graduation concept when the member leave after reaching 20 so Mark left the group in 2018 but dropped this concept in 2020 which make them stay at fixed unit as 7 (Mark came back) They debuted with the song CHEWING GUM in 2016 2017 : My first and Last (without Jaemin cause of injury) 2017 We young (no Jaemin) 2018 GO (Jaemin finally cameback) / WE GO UP / CANDLE LIGHT( single) 2019 BOOM (Without Mark) 2020 RIDIN(without Mark) 2021 HOT SAUCE( Mark cameback) and HELLO FUTURE 2022 : Glitch Mode / Beatbox and Candy,/ GRADUATION 2023 : Best friend ever(japanese single) Broken melodies and ISTJ As they grew up the concept became more and more mature but still time to time keep the fresh concept as they are the youngest they are currently the most successful NCT UNIT

NCT Dream is a group with a story. They are a group that supposed to disband after all the members become adults. Becuz of this, Mark who turned 20 yo graduated which is really sad for both members and fans. Fortunately, the company decided to cancel the graduation concept, bringing Mark back to the group. This is the most wise decision the company has done cuz now, NCT Dream has become one of the most successful group, winning many awards. This story of their journey to be together is a bittersweet but a wonderful one. Also, NCT Dream discography are very diverse, not only on their title tracks but also their b-sides. They have cute bubbly songs like Candy, Chewing etc. They also have charismatic songs like Ridin, 119 etc. Becuz of their graduation story, they also have emotional songs like Graduation, Rainbow etc. R&B sexy type of songs like Poison, funky songs like Better Than Gold, hyper songs like Trigger The Fever and many more. Really happy you guys did the killing voice reaction for the dreamies. 🥰 As you probably know, the NCT universe is vast and can get.... fairly complicated. 😅 There is one more 'official' unit, NCT Wish (essentially similar to WayV, only targeted towards the japanese market) but its complicated as they haven't debuted as yet so we still mostly only have pre-releases. In addition, we also have groups that aren't technically under the NCT banner but their lineup includes current or former nct members.....such as SuperM (Taeyong & Mark - NCT 127/NCT Dream & Lucas - former member of WayV) and RIIZE (Shotaro & Sungchan - NCT U) Intrestingly enough, Shotaro & Sungchan were originally planned to debut in NCT Wish but it appears as though the executives were concered they might get lost amongst the sheer amount of talent within nct so they arranged for them to re-debut with another set of trainees. Also you mentioned appreciating groups who don't take themeselves too seriously and aren't afraid to experiment with different music styles so I would definitely recommend you dive deeper into Mamamoo as they are notorious in the industry for their......unique personalities and quirky sense of humor (which is on full display in a number of their songs lol) And also check out Red Velvet if you have the chance as their entire concept is having two distinct musical styles.....Red representing their pop-centric releases which are bright, upbeat and at times borderline unhinged (in the best way 😅) while Velvet is more soulful & sultry with a strong rnb influence.

dream is my favorite group. fire alarm is hands down one of the best hype tracks on glitch mode, hands down. there's no mv for that [or for it's brother arcade] unfortunately. broken melodies, however, does have an mv. i also would love to see ya'll hit the Fireflies mv and Don't Need Your Love as well~

Haechan was my bias since day 1🌻Yeah Johnny in 127 is like 6’1” so next to him Haechan and Mark would look short lol I think they are like 5’9”-5’10”. Jisung is the tallest in Dream. Btw you need to see Marks solo songs , child, golden hour and 200

I love how much you loved NCT DREAM!!! They’re so talented. You should def check out the MVs for Glitch Mode, Broken Melodies, ISTJ😩 You should also check out Phantom by Wayv!! I love that song and the MV. For 127, they have so many good videos and music you could pick anything and you’ll have a good time watching/listening. NCT U: I recommend 90s love, that MV is so good. Pado, the bat, Marine turtle, alley oop, make a wish. (Trying to recommend songs with MVs 😅) Also Ten from Wayv just released an album and his Mv for the song Nightwalker is AMAZING!!! definitely worth checking out too. Also NCT DOJAEJUNG with their song Perfume. Either MV or Performance video(my personal favorite) is such an amazing song and lowkey song of the year for 2023.
