Another great reaction!! You’re not going to get these answers from the MV, so here’s a bit of info to help - They’re actually saying “Dema don’t control us.” Dema is the place where this video took place, which is a city that Tyler made up. It’s controlled by nine bishops (the people in the red cloaks) and they all symbolize different types of mental struggles. Dema enforces a religion called Vialism that teaches its residents that the end goal of life is suicide. The people in yellow are called the Banditos, and they’re a rebel organization that helps residents escape Dema. Looking forward to the next video! 😊

The cinematography of the Trench Trilogy was amazing. Jumpsuit and Levitate were filmed in Iceland and Nico and the Niners was filmed in Ukraine. Trench is a concept album. What you saw was the walled city of Dema, which is controlled by the 9 Bishops. When he says “Dema don’t control us” he’s referring to the Bishops and what Dema represents - the power and control over his mind and mental health. Dema is represented in a very “George Orwell 1984” manner, which ties to the reference to the razor blades. Dema is oppressive and glorifies suicide. So when he says “We’ll win but not everyone will get out,” he’s acknowledging that in the battle against the Bishops, some won’t survive. But that’s where the music and the Banditos come in, to fight and help guide people out of the darkness. Josh and the other Banditos come to rescue Tyler and help him escape Dema. I love the fact that they incorporated the secret handshake from “Stressed Out.” The yellow tape is their rebel color and sign of solidarity against the Bishops. Tyler leaves the jumpsuit behind for the kids to find and you will see it again in a future video. I’m excited to see your reaction to Levitate 😼

He's saying "Dema" don't control us. Dema is a place that Tyler created for the Trench album, but it was mention before that, we just didn't know what it was at that time. It's a prison guarded by nine bishops (Nico, Andre, Keons, Sacarver, Listo, Vetomo, Nills, Lisben, and Reisdro) They each represents some kind of mental health problems, for example Nico represent depression, I'm not sure about the rest of them. I don't have the best knowledge of the Lore but I'm sure some clikkies will go deeper 😄🙌 Cheers ! ✌

absolutely loving these videos! as you may have seen in other comments, DEMA is the fictional place that the trench lore takes place in. here are some of the key things that show up in the lore repeatedly: 1. yellow; with the main colors of the album being yellow, green, and black, a lot of the symbolism takes place with the yellow. the yellow carnations seen in the cabinet inside of tylers room symbolize the "failed escapes" that he (and other banditos) attempted. the bishops do not see yellow, hence why its worn so much in the form of tape and bandanas. 2. FPE; seen throughout the entire twenty one pilots timeline. it was previously seen as "the Few, the Proud, and the Emotional" during the blurryface era, however, in the trench era, its representative of "failed perimeter escape" (callback to the yellow carnations) 3. the towers; while i would recommend digging deeper into the lore in order to fully understand this part, the towers seen at the beginning are the central aspect of dema. there are nine towers, representing the nine bishops, which represent the nine circles corresponding to certain songs on the blurryface album cover. at the top of each tower are vultures that eat the deceased that fall victim to the end result of vialism (suicide). 4. bishops; the bishops act as the leaders of dema and spread the religion that is vialism. each citizen that enters dema is assigned a bishop (tylers bishop was initially thought to be nico, but its up for debate). the bishops names are crucial to understanding their personalities. (credit to CaptianKhan4131 on reddit for the following list) Andre- tomorrow i'll keep a beat, AND REpeat yesterday's dance. - Fairly Local Lisden -all i feeL IS DENial- Polarize Keons- choKE ON Smoke - HDS Nico-( Now this is supposed to be in Stressed Out, but I just can't seem to find it) Reisdro- temperatuRE IS DROpping - Doubt Sacarver- she'S A CARVER - Tear in my heart Nills - and beaten dowN, ILL Slip away - Goner Vetomo - but will they be aliVE TOMOrrow - Lane boy Listo - we have a LIST Of people that we would take- Ride 5. banditos; group of escapists from dema, many of whom share the goal of getting more people to escape from dema. josh is assumed to be the leader of the banditos, hence why he led the group in the nico and the niners music video to try and save tyler. 6. clancy; the overall main character of the trench and dema lore. tyler is assumed to be played as clancy, but that is also up for debate. on the website demaorg.info , you can see a bunch of letters written by clancy about his experience within dema. all of the letters have been accumulated since the beginning of trench. these are all of the key things, however, there is SO MUCH more to dig into. a lot is revealed throughout the trench era and it leaks into the scaled and icy era. hope this helps!

You are never going to know what it all means from just watching the videos. Those of us that were following when trench was released were able to find all of the Easter eggs that Tyler leaves us through secret websites and tweets etc. Even seemingly small throwaway lines in interviews have direct meanings to things on the album if you are a twenty one pilots fan that’s paying attention. If you were part of the clique you know, Tyler will at times leave interviewer is out of the loop if he catches on the day or not real fans.

I cannot wait to see your faces when you hear levitate!!! There is a lot to take in from the lore outside of this that explains more. Neon gravestones is a must after these for you to understand the reference. Note the bishops have neon light - cold bright light whereas the banditos carry fire torches - warm, inviting yellow light. If you think about it it’ll make sense. Also although these were released in this order note that it’s is actually circular- an ever revolving story & can actually be viewed accurately in any order

"We'll win but not everyone will get out." - It's talking about the struggles of mental health issues. We'll win. The positivity there is fantastic. We'll do this. But, realistically, not everyone will get out. Not everyone is going to survive their struggles with mental health. Some are going to give into the bishops (persona of mental health issues) and are going to give into it (suicide). But, the tone is positive. I can't wait for the end of this trilogy. The whole concept of Dema is a metaphor for being stuck in your own mind and the issues that can plague you from that - each of the bishops representing something which can bring you down. Most of their music is about breaking the cycle of mental health and Trench is the ‘place’ you go to between Dema (your demons) and completely being free from them - most people cycle between Dema and trench and never make it completely out.

Tyler is so much more than a singer/songwriter/composer/performer.. he's an amazing world builder and story teller.. A vast majority of their discography is intertwined to paint a picture of an entire world populated and alive.. Nico and the Niners are the bishops that represent individual base fears that rule a lot of our decision making and how we live our lives and what we show of ourselves and put out into the world.. Dema is the metropolis they reside over, each bishop having their own section of inhabitants.. there is so so much more lore and it goes so so deep! Why does everyone get the order wrong? It goes Jumpsuit, Levitate, nico and the niners. Yes technically you can watch it in any order because of the way the story is, but that is the order they are on the album. Levitate literally has a line that says "dominant by track two." Because it's the second on the album and in the trilogy
@sadcr17502 жыл бұрын
Dude I understand what you’re saying but you couldnt be more wrong. The way the videos are released are the order in which tyler and josh want us to watch them. Theres PLENTY of supporting evidence that shows why Levitate should be watched last. Also it would make no sense to watch NATN last because then when you go to the Sai era you see that tyler is back in dema (partly because he was taken back during leviate but choker plays a huge role in this conversation to) you have the spirit but you’re just off
@ShAdoWj19952 жыл бұрын
@@sadcr1750 Jumpsuit literally flows into Levitate, why would you put a song in between to break that? And also you are supposed to watch the story in reverse. That's why they are coming out of the cave from nico but the music is continuing from Jumpsuit, either way you look, Levitate should be in the middle. Not that it matters too much anyway, it's a cycle it doesn't really have a beginning or end
@ShAdoWj19952 жыл бұрын
Other reason to watch nico last is because you can take it as him finally getting out, which would lead into Saturday and the outside
@sadcr17502 жыл бұрын
@@ShAdoWj1995 Levitate should be listened to second if you are just listening to the album with no video context, because yes, it flows perfectly into jumpsuit. Thats not the case when you add the video into the mix. If they wanted you to deliberately watch Leviate second then they wouldve release it like that. We can respectfully agree to disagree on this matter but i just wanna know your take on this then. If levitate should be watched second Why would they purposely spotlight tys yellow flower when he put it in the box, because its the flower from jumpsuit. You’ll notice theres not just one flower, because this isnt his first time trying to escape. Ty puts that flower in the box because he just got back to dema with nico after that failed perimeter escape. Then he gets broken out like we all know and taken to the bandito camp, Nico and the bishops find his location and snatch him back once again, transitioning us into the Sai era. Im completely open to my mind being changed on this, but you gotta give some heavy supporting evidence on your angle

@@ShAdoWj1995 nope the dema storyline continues with shy away and choker, then Saturday and the outside. It doesnt just directly go into Saturday. Ur skipping two videos my friend. If you dont think shy away and choker have their own respected places in the Dema universe then you need to refresh your memory and read some more clancy letters

Its not “demons dont control us” its DEMA. You should look it up but its a rabbit hole! TOP has a lot of lore.
