The reason there’s so many mixed reviews is bc the author wanted to make a shonen version of berserk which meant obviously not being as graphic. His main focus is the world building/lore and its characters. The animation isn’t consistent due to it being a weekly production, but I still recommend it. It’s a really well written series and imo has no boring episodes. The main inspiration for this series are Db, bleach, berserk, and togashi(hxh,yuyu hakusho)

​@@lordkai59 Well, not only that, but a large majority of their arguments are litterally shonen tropes. : Wants to be the "best at something" : Naruto Hokage, Izuku Hero n°1, Luffy Pirate King, Ash pokemon master and so on Have a powerful entity with him (not necessarily inside of him) : Kurama was litterally inspired by Goku's Oozaru like in "the beast inside of him", or Ichigo in Bleach The rival trope is in many shonen too, once again, DBZ with Vegeta and Goku, Bakugo Izuku etc... Tabata litterally admitted he took some inspirations from other manga such as Berserk, Bleach or Yu Yu Hakusho, but he never stated to pick anything from Naruto. (beside, if we "accept" their claim, it's litterally the same for Naruto with Yu Yu Hakusho by their logic)

Yeah, the studio wanted to do seasonal but the publisher wanted a weekly series. So they skimped on animation for several episodes so they could focus on their favourite parts of the story, since they didn't have the budget to do cool animation otherwise. Can put people off a bit.

You all will absolutely adore the characters and their interactions with each other. The animation (particularly in the first 40 episodes) can be a bit rough, but it gets way better over time and some of the fights are absolutely spectacular. Asta is a great MC and Yuno is a great rival. Also, the female cast is actually super important and not just there for the MC Just make sure when you watch it you watch the dub, it has Chris sabat

I came out of it liking the sub more still once he got better, but I'll never discredit Black Clover's dub. It's up there with the great dubbed animes for me now. The few and the mighty.

@@PK_Nate it's not about discrediting. Just because the dub is "good" doesn't make it better than original, like a lot of things are lost in translations, a lot of things are lost during dubs too. It makes sense for people who're not used to subtitles or watching foreign language stuff, but these guys are used to it. They even watched Fmab in dub due to popular opinion. And fyi they've started one piece which has similar annoying goofy voiceactings which you do get used to after a while so this is nothing.
