There’s an undeveloped island nearby that you can camp on as well. It’s called Bear Isle. There’s a few campgrounds, but generally, you can have the whole island to yourself most evenings.

Being local here and right across the water from this place I will tell you that in the summer you won't be alone. Those little pull up beachy aspots are a favorite for the locals to park their boats and swim a bit. We've seen it up for sale for a while and think it's great someone bought it and made this a place people can go to and enjoy! Just hope they are telling people you can have "visitors" of the human kind too on the island. Not right at the little house but around the island. Looks like you had fun though and Swansboro is awesome! Love the drone footage also!

That makes sense and is good to know for everyone. We stayed on a warm week last November. Not too surprising as the whole area seems to be so laid back and chill about accessing the islands and a lot of them of course are part of the state park. Thank you for sharing this, so glad you loved the drone footage. Being able to so freely fly the drone was hands down my favorite part about staying there! It was a playground for that. You live in a beautiful area, btw! :)

Hahaha, right!? I was ready to go full blown Robinson Crusoe myself, then I realized the town of Swansboro was super close and it ALMOST crushed my little fantasy, but it still had a lot of appeal and was a fun adventure. There are several parts that feel very secluded and the islands nearby that are part of the state park are also a lot of fun to explore. Drone flying was a blast as well!

@@caseyrobinson7539 lol well even you'll see people naked too depending when you booked it. They can be on the island or on a boat passing right by it. It's VERY close to the beautiful, quaint little town of Swansboro and there's dolphins all around! As a local that has beached there on our boat and fished off the boat or just sunbathed, Idk how they're "selling" it as totally to yourself. ? These ppl went in off season and that's a HUGE reason why you didn't see anyone else there or the intercoastal waterway ( they water you see and kayak on) filled with tons of activity! It's def beautiful and very fun though!

@@laurenandseth Im glad you guys had fun and def that time of year is why you had it so quiet. Come in the summer and there will be boats, kayaks, and jet skis every where! That sweet little town of Swansboro gets hopping for sure and people on boats park around any sandbar they find. It's a good time, I don't think ppl would actually come up to little house though. We all know that's a private house. But you could def have some neighbors fishing and sunbathing. 😀

Thanks!! We had fun with the music choices haha. 😂 Ah man I know it’s cold up there 🥶 we have been lucky with the weather so far!! The fields on the island were so photogenic. We found the cabin on Airbnb! There is a section on the website & app called “unique stays” and people list unique places. We have seen tree houses, RV’s, and all kinds of cool places! 😊

So when you rent this cabin they close off the entire island? The island is part of the state park system...I assume you rent the cabin but the island stays open to everyone (like every state park)

Great question. Yes, most of the islands there are part of the state park, this one though I believe is still privately owned. I know Bear Island is another great one you can get to from the state park itself by kayaking and you can camp out there. Next time we're going to try that out. Some people have said that others will stop off there and that doesn't surprise me, as the whole area seems really laidback on allowing everyone access to all the islands. Which is super nice, I think.
