Molly is the cutest!I personally think crate training is super important,because it decreases the chance of separation anxiety and helps with house training.A really good way to help with crate training is to feed Molly her meals in her crate.And you can also sit in front of the crate and throw treats inside of it for Molly to eat!Can’t wait to watch her grow up 😊

I would try putting the crate in Gabby’s room(or maybe you already did) and then putting a blanket over it. Blankets over the crate usually work, it makes the dog feel calm and safe. I also know you guys said she wasn’t eating well, but you could try to put a puppy kong(I don’t know if you guys have one) with peanut butter and try putting that in the crate with her. Crate training is definitely important for puppies and I’m so happy you guys are trying to stick to it! And then once she’s good with the crate(so maybe in a couple weeks)I would say that you should let her sleep in Gabby’s bed💖

Crate training is a great idea! All four of our dogs have been crate trained and it's really useful. We would start off by putting the dogs in the crate while they could see us and then eventually move to another room so they could still hear us and then we would work towards leaving them in the house for a short time. The only time our dogs are in their crates are at night and when we are gone. My siblings and I are homeschooled too, so it makes it easier to have dogs. And they aren't in their crate that much. Molly is so cute! I love her breed! Awesome video!

With the thing about y’all getting molly at 6wks and puppies being sold out at 8wks. I think that 6wks is a little young but I got my puppy at 5 1/2😬 we would’ve NEVER done that for obvious reasons but the owner dropped the mom and puppies off at a shelter in a box and the mom rejected them. The shelter was getting really full to hand care for 5wk old puppies so they sold them out. She fit in my hands when we got her🥺 it was so sad but she’s a big healthy girl now!

I would say definitely crate train for the next few months and when she is older she can sleep in gabby’s bed! Crates are amazing for if you have people over and have to put her somewhere to calm down or if your traveling with her! When I got my golden puppy I kept him in his crate at night for the first maybe 2-3 months and now that he is almost 9 months he sleeps perfectly out at night either on my bed or on his bed on the floor of my room! But crates are so great and I would highly, highly recommend training her to sleep in there!

Awww just to much cuteness with molly and those cute little goats and of course all your animals❤️❤️also why molly is so attached to gabby and really likes her to family is because they attach to one person they do like other people sometimes but mostly will stick to one person and pretty soon gabby won’t even have to call her to follow her😁🐶

Potty training tip: when my dog was a puppy we hanged a bell on the doorknob and had her ring it every time before we took her outside to go to the bathroom. This taught her to ring the bell to let us know when she needed to go out. She still does it at five years old.

All of the dogs my family has had have slept with someone, we just trained the puppy a week after we would bring them home (so they could settle in) and we had to make sure they were ok with being in the crate for long periods of time. I think you should do the same because it helps to strengthen the bond between the owner and the dog but still makes sure the dog is well trained and good with the crate. So you could always crate train her then after she’s been crate trained she can sleep with gabby and you can check to see if she still fine with the crate every once in a while.

When I got my dog (Shiba Inu), we tried crate training, but she didn’t like it very much. Plus, we never really understood the point of crate training. We then just let her sleep in the crate, but left the door open. Soon, she ended up just sleeping with me every night. I was very lucky though, because she did not cry at night or need to use the bathroom, so I wasn’t worried about that. However, even though she was never fully crate trained, I still worked on it with her and made sure she was used to it just in case there was ever a situation in which she needed to be in a crate (like when she was sick and when she got spayed). I kept the crate in my room for a long time and and always left the door open. It is no longer in my room anymore. She was/is perfectly comfortable being in it and being quiet too. She knows the cue “kennel up” as well. I think it is totally up to you whether or not you want to crate train Molly. I, personally, do not really believe in it, but that’s just my opinion. Every dog is different, so just do whatever you feel is best for Molly. I don’t know very much about Border Collies, but from what I’ve heard, I feel like it would be best to do it. It will be better in the long run. Plus, the breed is very smart, so I’m sure she will learn quickly. Sometimes it’s a little more important to train the dog and set them up for life rather than to just bond with them. What I mean is, Gabby and Molly can still bond just as well if Molly sleeps in a crate. They have all day to play and spend time together. I don’t think the sleeping arrangements will change it all that much. Molly isn’t gonna love you any less if you put her in a crate. Trust me, you want a respectful, well rounded dog in the future. There are still many things I wish I could’ve done better with my dog when she was a puppy, but she is still great. It’s best to start training them correctly right now, when their minds are sharp and ready to learn. You can still bond with them through training.

Stay strong y’all! Our puppy only cried the first two nights and has been fine ever since! Being comfortable in a crate is so important just in case you need to use one. Also a cool way to know how many hours a puppy can hold their pee is to subtract one from however many months old the puppy is. She is so cute!

I have a border collie ( we also got her at 7 weeks), I would highly recommend crate training. They are very active dogs and as they mature they can sometimes become destructive when left alone (for reference, she's a working trial dog and gets hours of exercise). My girl is turning 2 this year and has now proven herself capable of staying out of the crate with the other dogs without chewing furniture. Yay for her finally sleeping with me at night!

when my mom got me my dog he hated sleeping on the floor alone he had alot of Axiety so i started letting him and it was the best choice i have ever made it made me and him grow a connection so i think whats best for the puppy is to sleep on gabbys bed for maybe a few months just to get her use to the house and it will help get her anxiety to go down a little then in a few months have her sleep on gabbys bed one night and the nexts night on the floor. Hope this helped :)

You should also start getting Molly use to the horses while she is young so when she is older she doesn’t chase them because of her breed
@qiuyekachemov7672
@qiuyekachemov7672 4 жыл бұрын
Catie Equestrian She could still chase them, even if she gets used to them now. The herding thing is more about training and not letting the dog do it. However, that is also hard as this breed has that instinct. I do agree that she should start being around the horses soon, just so she can sniff them and learn not to be scared of them.

Im studying canine behaviour and dog training so I can try give you a few pointers. I’m not sure if you know all about how puppies start learning but the first 12 weeks of their life are the most crucial. You could really make Molly a super dog if you take these few weeks and really socialise her and get her exposed to lots of things, take her to horses, be noisy, really tell her off if she bites too hard as she may not have learnt bite inhibition yet. I think leaving Molly in the crate at night while she is a puppy would be for the best, as they are most impressionable at this age. After a few weeks/months when she’s used to the crate and settled in, is when she can start sleeping with Gabby. It’s also a lot easier to start teaching sit and wait while they are puppies. Let me know if you want any more advice as I have a lot of experience with puppies through volunteering. My insta is @dreamsofgrace if you need any help 💗

Have you raised border collies before? They have unique personalities. Be firm and whatever you do be consistent. Borders are amazingly intelligent. I bred and raised them for 22 yrs. Most of all, keep them busy. Give them a task to do. They need that to thrive. Read everything you can about them to really understand the breed. They are special. Laura, you might try softening your voice around Molly. You have a higher, sharper, pitched tone that quite possibly makes her uneasy, especially considering her lack of socializing and knowing one man. If I have offended you, I apologize but the comfort of the animal always come first with me and I have seen this occur with puppies before. My first pup came from a kennel in New South Wales. He had never seen steps where you could see through to the bottom. We stayed at a motel and had to carry him up and down 3 flights of steps whenever he needed to go out. He just tucked his adorable furry butt down and refused to move. We actually purposely stayed there 2 more days in order to make him comfortable with those darn steps, lol.

You guys need to make sure Ruby gets the same, if not more attention that the puppy. Otherwise, Ruby may end up resenting the puppy because she feels ignored. Also, definitely keep up with the crate training! It will be great for her in the long run :) Make sure she is going in there at other times, not just at night when she goes to bed. You could also try getting bones and filling them with something healthy and yummy. My parents make a fruit mixture and freeze it inside the bones. It gives them something to do, and it will help distract her once she is in the crate. Good luck!! I know you guys will do great with your new puppy.

I think you should let Molly sleep with Gabby and then when you leave out her in her crate like you are(or you could get a play pin there is more space). When I got my puppy for my birthday the first night I put him in a crate and it was horrible! So then I tried putting in the bed with me and it was great! He definitely warmed up to me and trusted me a lot more. And then once we had to leave we put him in a play pin and he didn’t like it at first put then once he got in the routine he was fine. :)

My advice we’re doing with our puppy we got a few days ago is we’re having her sleep in her crate at night downstairs We’re doing this for a week, and she whines but that’s going to happen. Then for the next week after she stops whining downstairs you put the crate next to your bed so she knows your close, I also suggest putting a blanket over the cage. Then you can start sleeping with her, crate training is good to have so when your away she can go in the crate without freaking out, she’s adorable by the way! And yes the whining stinks but they learn! Also I’ve been doing crate training while putting our puppy in the crate and telling her to lay down and be quiet, then leave her in the for longer and longer, and reward her when she stays quiet!

ally denham I agree crate training is really good and it does work it just takes some time carrying the puppy around all the time and holding it all the time it’s not good either once this Corentine is over and you go back to normal and horse shows and horse lessons go back to the horse barn where you do your lesson the dogs are going to be in their crate and Molly is going to be constantly whining because she wants gassy so it’s better to do it now and have her get use to it

I've got 4 dogs and they all have always slept in bed with me hahaha. I think as long as she doesn't become possessive over the bed you're fine. Also remember when you have food, the puppy should move away from the food, if you start waiving it around it then turns into a game. Gabby is smart and I'm sure Molly will be the best trained puppy! I also always took my dogs EVERYEHERE with me espically as puppies and I bring one of my dogs to work with me now 🤣🤣. Also making sure Molly is tired before being crated or calm before you close the door also helps, she should be taught that door open doesn't mean go out. Sorry I get excited with training puppies it's my favorite thing 😍

Hi, I love your blogs. I have always failed when getting a puppy keeping them out of the bed. My roommate had a border collie and that she did agility and herding with her, they are so intelligent and teachable it is amazing. Good luck, whatever decision Gabby makes. They do need a leader and a job, I am sure you guys already know that. Just remember that after a long day of working at the barn in the dirt and everything else, does Gabby want her to get in the bed then? I wonder if one of those teddybears that has a heartbeat they make for infants would help her adjust to the crate? Just a thought. Good Luck!

If molly doesn’t eat you can either put a piece of paper and put a piece of human food on top then you or Gabby eat it then take the paper of then Molly will think that she’s eating your food xxx or just pretend xx love you guys xxx

Gabby should be with the puppy the most because if Sophie is with it all the time the puppy will think she is it’s owner but it’s gabby’s puppy so let gabby and the puppy have time together alone.(just a tip)

Also I don’t recommend the tug of war toys with strings or at least letting her play with them unattended because she can swallow the strings and give her problems that could lead to surgery! So with my puppy I watch him as he plays with it or play with him so I can keep a eye on him.!

I'd let her stay with Gabby. It keeps her calm, will make her more confident to eat and be around you guys and it will cement their bond so much more. It's maybe not ideal but if it makes her happy then that's what matters most imo x

If the puppy is crying at night in her crate/pen put a or lots of blankets on top of it so she can't see you guys. It worked really well for my puppy but now she sleeps with me! Hope this helps u guys💕💕. Much love KAIYA

My puppy sleeps in my bed. Just make sure you put a puppy pad on the bed in case and wake up to let her out in the middle of the night.

I would do crate training. I would put the crate up next to the bed so she can see he new Mommy. This will help her sleep better. If she has a big bed then put the crate on the bed. Molly is really cute💗😁👍. Do not put 2 dogs in a crate together...Especially if they don't know each other that well.

I absolutely love that you are crate training her, my Rottweiler sleeps in his crate at night and he loves it, when someone says bedtime he jumps up and run straight to his crate

what I do with puppies is put the kennel beside my bed and I'll pet them through it and leave my hand there for them. dont open the door until morning or anything if they start crying pet them through the top. it works every time for me.
You Won't BELIEVE who's PREGNANT now!
