That's basically what happened when I moved back to Georgia after living in California for over 20 years ... It's weird because even when I lived in California it would come back as certain times like when I was mad or excited about something but I think the biggest thing was if I heard someone else using a similar accent mine always kicked in ... I think it was about being comfortable people from other parts of country ain't very nice to us they tend to treat us like we're not as intelligent or like we agree with bad things that happened here over a hundred years ago so we have to hide these accents but I've noticed in recent years they've actually become something that more and more people enjoy hearing so that's definitely nice

Being about the same age as these guys, hearing them talk about their childhood both made me reminisce and miss my own. I felt like I was there with them because in many ways I was but only with my friends instead of them. One of the saddest realities is being reminded of one simple fact. You can never go back.
