Visited salt spring island 5 years ago. Stayed for a week. Went by ferry from Calgary. We sampled a lot of produce , canoed, rode our bikes all around town. Our accommodation was a cedar house over looking a small lake. Fantastic place. Would love to go back one day. Cheers ! Terry from Calgary

Nanaimo has always been sketchy as long as I can remember. Salt Spring Island is beautiful (the Island of artists) and the Port of Crofton is really nice too!! Great video guys I really enjoyed it.

We were in Ganges 07/09 and 07/10. Had a great time and guessing we just missed you. There is a car rental place just down the road from the Marina. Rented a car for the day and saw alot of what you did. We had just crossed into Canada the day before and stayed in Sidney for one night. We also stayed in Poets cove for two nights before crossing back into the US. First time by boat and it was easy. Will do it again next year but we were planning on going to Naniamo but won't now. Bit of a run for us and fuel in Canada with the conversion in July was 6.91 a gallon. Will stick with the Southern Gulf Islands and Sidney was awesome. Thanks for all the info you put into your Videos. Hope to cross paths with you someday, we are out of Dagmars in Everett.

I Love Montague harbour. That Provincial campground is one of my favourites but, Rathtrevor in Parksville is number 1 on my list and the best beach. The After Eight used to be at Point Roberts Washington. Maybe it still is at that marina, I haven’t been down there for some time. That’s a place you guys would love. Nice marina and quaint little town with great beaches.

I'm always amazed by how differently others experience the same places we've cruised to. We have always found fresh produce at the Saturday market but we are usually there in late July or August. There has always been a french bakery booth there too that we never miss. We'll do the hop on hop off bus next time as we have never done that. Thanks for the tip.

After Eight is well used. It berths at the marina in my part of the city. It is frequently gone for a few days at a time, suggesting that it stays pretty local. Apparently the name is a reference to the owners having raised eight kids, there was a earlier version that was quite a bit smaller, and then of course they got 1 foot -itis or should I say many foot -itis 😂

Hey Shawn and Elizabeth… You might remember me from the trail a couple years ago in La Jolla. I have a question: I think you made mention as Shawn was spraying off the chain that you will need to take on water at your next stop. Do you have an onboard water purification system and if not for drinking water, could you use that for hosing stuff off and showers to reduce draw on the good stuff? This is not my world of knowledge so maybe I’m a bit wet in asking. 😂

We visited Uculet, Tofino and Nanaimo this last summer. Nanaimo wasn't that bad when we were there, we found one fo the best Greek restaurants we've easten at there by chance. It is in what used to be a house. We did see homeless around, but the security patrols were quick to get them either help or asking them to move along. We stayed int he Coastal hotel overlooking the harbor and it was a great view there. Maybe we just didn't see the really bad areas when we were there.
