When Ben is really upset or having a meltdown I encourage him to call his Nana. She has always been able to calm him and talk him down. On the first day of school he had a new bus driver and she got lost. Ben was very upset, he took his phone out of his backpack and called his Nana. This was the first time he did it without encouragement. I love that he has that person that he can call that he knows will help him.

That was a fun taste test !! I'd like to try them too, especially the jalapeno one !! What a fun way to celebrate Craig's birthday with a trip and with so much to see and do !! I'm sorry to hear that Craig got so overwhelmed with emotions that he had a meltdown at the restaurant. I can imagine that this is hard to see and difficult to deal with when it does happen. Everybody can have a moment when it's harder to deal and cope with what is given at that moment. Luckily he found a way by calling Steph or Joe to calm himself in situations like that. That one birdie was so greedy and mean to chase the other away from eating. There is enough for everybody guys ❤

Interesting - a friend with similar issues (of coping with pressure, change or sensory overload) & I were travelling on a plane, when a trigger set off a HUGE reaction. A big guy, he became determined to get off the plane (in flight!) It was quite hairy for a while, but what helped him to calm himself was telling him that children were becoming frightened. So I think, sometimes, that there is more empathy to call on than we realise, when people can’t readily access a full range of ‘emotional language’ Loved today’s video - I am a bird nut too😊

I know that a melt down is a big deal. But I will say that Craig has come so far in the time I’ve been watching your channel. I think I’ve been watching for about 16 to 20 months. Nancy yourself and Joe do an amazing job with Craig. Stephany and Bennett do a great job as well. I’ve seen so much growth in Craig and it shows very well. Everyone has an off day we are all human.

There is a great barbecue place called Ted Cook’s 19th hole BBQ in Minneapolis. It’s just a few blocks from the George Floyd Monument and it’s to go only. I’m originally from Kansas City and have ran some smoke pits but Ted is some of the best barbecue I have ever had in my life.

I had a sensory overload/meltdown when I was at theme park on Saturday August 10th, when I have sensory overload/meltdown it gets to the point where I end up slapping my head and I had to take my as needed medication and I had to where my headphones and sit somewhere quiet
