Many are asking about Laila’s grooming, her long nails, the stairs and rightfully so. Some background insight - Laila lives with hooman #2’s parents. She is their family dog, they do not have stairs in their house, thus Laila doesn’t get stressed & fatigued. The extra weight she gained is due to her now being less active & also coming natural with old age. She is on a special diet to reduce her weight but isn’t being very successful. We brought her to our home to spend some quality time with us & hooman #2 to take her to the groomer. If I may suggest a remedy for older dogs who may be about to suffer from joint pains? I have great experience with supplement pills containing Glucosamine, a substance called MSM and Chondroitine, these compounds are usually found in the same supplement pill. The pills work to strengthen the dogs joint.and in most cases even repair joints from being damaged by arthritis, wear or trauma. In dogs who show little to no pains (i.e. dogs younger then l;ets say 9-10 years of age) it can help to prevent joint damage and pains before they may arise. Watch the dosage on the label but 1 pill per day should be fine for a 30 kg dog. The first two weeks maybe even a 3 pill regime for every 2 days to boost the function. Try it ! It works wonderfully...

I retired from Petco, I started before smart phones, so when people asked questions, I actually said, I need to research this question or problem, please come back on Tuesday. And they did..they really did,Because they wanted to know too. Craftsman/specialist secret : Go off Label. All that joint stuff works for humans too, and it is a third the price of dog labels, but you gotta research every ingredient, xylitol is lethal to dogs, but most of us eat it every day. But, on a personal note, I got a 14 year old heeler/Aussie mix, she is super friendly, but she has personal space...in a big way. She would have herded me to the door, scratched at the door, and sat down, then looked at me intently,while blocking(herding) them away from me. To translate, "There are a bunch of young punks and hooligans in here, out the door, Now. Regroup once the perimeter is secure!"

Shiro's head on one side; we don't often see him looking inquisitive like this! Border Collies are beautiful, very intelligent dogs. Leila will be much happier without the extra weight - she limps so I expect her dear old joints hurt a bit. She has a beautiful face and is clearly happy with you humans. Lovely dog. The welcoming committee were very funny at the top of the stairs.

Oh my goodness! Look how sweet the Laila pupper was!!!! How precious that you brought her back to visit with Hooman 2 and the new dogs. After the initial introductions I think Shiro and Raya could sense that Laila couldn't move so fast. They let her catch the ball and bring it back. It was all beautiful, 3Shiba famblee sitting on top of the stares especially Shiro tilting head to inquire who's coming. Laliat 4weeks then growing lidle by lidle with hooman2 next to her. How handsome he is and gorgeous Laila was (is still at 13 yrs old) !!!! Great memories.

She reminds me so much of my Samoyed, Bart. I had father and son for 14 years and 12 years respectively and at the end Bart's arthritis was SO BAD and Aspen (his father) was a big old chunky monkey who was deaf, but still got around. One day while in the back yard, Bart brought his ball for me to throw so I tossed it across the yard, he took about 3 steps and turned to look at me as if to say "I just can't run anymore" and it broke my heart. There was really nothing the vet could give to fix him and I made the most horrific decision I have had to make in years and decided to put both down at the same time. I did this while my wife went to visit her son and I called him to let him know my decision (my wife didn't want to even talk about it) and I left it up to him if he wanted to tell her or not. The day I did that was one of the worst days of my life. As we were driving to the vet, as soon as we turned down the street towards the vet's office, both tails dropped down (they knew the road) and when we did the final injection, I was crying uncontrollably, my fried (who came along for support) and the vet was crying. So, please tell Hooman #2's parents to make the decision before she can't get around any more. It's tough I know, but I can't stand to see a dog we have known since puppyhood suffer.

We had outdoor stairs, and an apple tree near the top of the stairs. Maggie would push the apples down the stairs and then chase them if she was outside alone. At the beach, she would drop her ball in the water, crouch down and wait for the tide to take it a bit and then lunge after it. It stopped being a surprise when local people would ask to take her picture, we lived in Mexico then. I counted once, and she understood 250 words. Border Collies are so smart. She was 11 and suddenly has a massive infection. She went from sick to dead in a week. The vet was above a pet store, I had to carry her out, dead, sobbing, past people buying pet supplies. Then find somewhere to bury her fast. It was past 100 degrees and she couldn't stay in my car for very long. I was renting in a condo complex, had no place of my own to bury her. My brother had owned her and died when she was 4. We had spread his ashes near the train tracks in our hometown in Canada. So a friend and I followed the train tracks out into the desert in Mexico, and buried her next to them, I figure all the tracks are eventually connect. That was over a decade ago, my brother's been gone over two decades, I still miss them both so very much. I loved the video, but here it is Christmas and I'm about to do something so great, but I'm sobbing, the puppy footage is what did it. Anyhow, Merry Christmas to any who see this! Seeing Layla struggling to walk is heartbreaking💔 ... We cry when we see malnourished dogs, but this is just as sad! ...
