Kori Runs

Жыл бұрын

A legendary race during one of its hottest years has made for a New York City Marathon to remember. Here's a look at race through the eyes of a non-elite, completely regular runner (who started in wave 4). A truly challenging but also moving experience that everyone should try once.
A special thanks to everyone captured in this video including Chris, Vivian, Leona, Jen, Jenny, Antonio and more. If you see someone you know, please pass this video along to them!

Seriously Not only is it well narrated but the editing is perfect. Amazing how you can run a marathon and produce such a compelling video at the same time. Bravo! I hope to do something similar as I'm preparing to run my first-ever marathon in NYC this November. Thank you for the inspiration! I hope it's not hot or humid this time around.

Great video, Kori! Truly portrays the absolute carnage out there. This was my first marathon and I can assure you, NYC 2022 has built a whole new generation of runners… runners whose hearts were broken but turned them into fearless athletes prepared for whatever’s in front from now on.

Congrats on completing the race! My first ever half marathon was in Singapore, and I was so under prepared that I almost blacked out after crossing the finish line, but the race will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for sharing, Kori! I ran the marathon also. I trained well, but was met by adversity with the heat, humidity and severe cramps. I thought I was alone in feeling overwhelmed by such a diverse range of emotions (excitement, joy, pain, disappointment, relief, gratitude...to name few). Glad to know there's a broad array of participants that can empathize with one another on the amazing, yet brutal experience. Cheers!

Hey Kori! It's 1am Dec 4th. Game day, Race Day is here. Half Marathon, San Antonio Rock and Roll Marathon!! I've been asleep since 8:30pm, and my alarm goes off in 90 minutes to start the match on my whole day. Just went to the restroom, now it's time for more sleep. But, I needed to contact my friend the only way I know how. Kori ... I've been shocked how the last two weeks of my life has gone. Thanksgiving through my world for a loop. My tapper was a disaster of inactivity. I've done some running and physical activity, but not a lot. I am fresh, but I lack a confidence that only a clear plan and consistency provides. I haven't had that the past two weeks. I didn't fight for it either. Now it's Race Day. Half marathon, goal is to run faster than 1:59:57 on a course I've never run, and to get as close to 1:55:00 as I can. The utimate ideal is faster than 1:55:00. But that is gravy, not the meal. Last time I was in this situation, I did a PB of 57:56 on a 10 km course after losing 5 weeks of training in a 7 week period due to injury and COVID. Went out WAY too fast to start that run, was almost completely cooked by the end. That was almost 11 months ago. Can't believe how much running I've done since then. I mainly wanted to say, Thank you! You will be with me on this run. Your channel has been great company as I've been running my own journey. Appreciate you!! Will tell you how everything goes later today. Start time is 7am, and a world of activity will happen between now and then. Talk again soon!!

You can’t describe what that humidity and heat was like. The people in the Burroughs were incredible, handing out ICE cold water and kitchen towels to try wipe the sweat out of your eyes… if there is one thing I have taken away from NYC Marathon ( other than total disappointment) it’s the PEOPLE make this race, their kindness and support was something else.. thank you PEOPLE of NYC 🇺🇸 .. great video 👏 (my time was 3:48 incase anyone cares lol)

Congrats! Where did you get the number of people started? It doesn’t seem accurate. NYRR actually refuses to release the actual number, probably due to the large number of DNFs. But they themselves say it was 50+k and if you noticed on the course, bib numbers went up to 60+k.

Both numbers came directly from NYRR. I initially tried to get information on the number of runners needing medical attention on the course, which they would not reveal. They did provide the start and finish numbers when I asked. They say the rate (around 98%) is consistent with other years.

Amazing, I did the NYC 2013 Marathon and I miss it so much! Nothing beats the crowd support! I just ran the Malibu half marathon with my husband (his first race - he only started running during covid) and I really want him to tackle NYC next. We vlogged about his insane successful first half marathon and his tips. It's on our channel if anyone wants to watch!

It was 5:12 or 5:13. Slower than I planned but still my 2nd fastest marathon.
