Once led a church group (not my church, they reached out to me as a guide) on a two night, three day, backpacking trip; we had multiple, multiple classes discussing food, water, gear, lessons on packing your pack, how to shit in the woods, where to clean your dishes,etc. etc. etc. Everyone showed up to the classes, everyone had good questions, all except one guy ... we'll call him Matty. Matty said he knew survival and didn't need my help. When we met to head out, Matty showed up with one single canteen of water (no filter), a Jansport with some clothes, a blanket, and DOZENS of 99c McDonalds cheeseburgers. Dont be a Matty. I always pack more food than needed (just in case), and ended up absolutely starving because I had to share all my food with him. Dude washed his dishes DEAD CENTER in our camp, and I woke up in the middle of the night to a shit ton of animals ransacking camp. Ended up cancelling the trip after one night because of Matty, and everyone in the church group blamed me, not their dumb ass Matty. Don't be a Matty
