We Survived Tanzania's Most Insane Market (#32)

Sabbatical

3 жыл бұрын

Kariakoo Market in Dar es Salaam is something you have to see to believe. I had been around the world but it's by far the most insane market I had ever come across. One day, I joined up with my friend ‪@KidGreatness‬ to go on a shopping expedition as two Americans, and see if we got different treatment. Apparently he passes pretty well for someone from every African country. Me, not so much.

Guys We TANZANIANS unfortunately don't know racial discrimination in our national , that's why laugh with anybody visiting our kountry. Where we are hungry or fully we gonna laugh and make story with you foreigner or whatever, our destiny is to live in happy and harmony with all races and anybody here. P'se stop and don't bring in here that hatred and racism in our beautiful kountry of TANZANIA (the cradle of humankind). JustRemember we still in national mourning 😪😪😪😭😭😭 Rip JPJM 🙏🙏🙏🙏

But in America and Europe you can hear, black or white American, black Italian etc!!! It's non sense

Kariakoo indeed is completely insane. The amount of people and noise is just overwhelming, especially for a poor Finn like me who is used to a lot of space and peace :) The amount of people in Kariakoo on just a regular day packed in such a small space is probably equivalent of the whole nation of Finland. I try to stay away from Kariakoo when I visit TZ with my TZ wife, but I love the country

We all are racist so whaaaat 😏 everybody has their own preferences 😶 the crazy thing is that when we dont like a country/nation/religion/culture/idea it's ok but if others dont like us oh no that's racism 😒 The more we are different the more we are distant & vice versa (it has nothing to do with colour) 😛 though we all have at least to respect each other ✌ Too much long comment 😰

I must endorse what your friend said about Jamaican vendors. Jamaican vendors can be extremely aggressive especially if you touch their wares and didnt buy or if you thought the price was a bit steep and walked away. They'll curse you in the most embarassing way. Sabbatical dont even think you could try that signature smirk either. The threats would sure be coming at you. Your friend said it best. I am Jamaican and I am scared to buy from the street vendors too. ☹ Sad. I most say though that Jamaicans are very friendly and accomodating like the africans but the level of aggression is up another level. My Jamaica 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
