I just installed my helix mini dsp with director and it sounded better than my Audiocontrol lc7i without any tune at all lol. 👍🏻👍🏻 first and last processor I’ll buy.

I am currently doing a complete audio system upgrade using Helix components. I have their M One X Mono-block, 700W @ 2 ohms, 2 of the M 6 channel amps, 100W/ch @ both 2 & 4 ohms and the Amp-Pro stuff to use the factory head unit. The next Helix component I will get is the 12 channel DSP Ultra. Wish you guys were closer. Speakers are 2 pair of Focal PS 165 F3 full range 3 way active x-over for the cabin and a JL Audio 13TW5v2-2 going in a custom fiberglass enclosure. The Helix stuff can be a bit hard to find.

Thank you guys for talking so nice and clear for me about Helix sound processor. You are so right in al aspects. There ARE sound processors that does NOT have have real central stage. I've read the specs on Helix website, reading about they're central channel.. that got me to you on YT that confirmed my good suspicion.. a g?have already an amp that has 4 completly separate channels with 30 EQ band and time delay between channels, with group selection as well.. I have been using a "home made" surround sound preamp wirh central and rear speakers driven by 2 other smaller amps.. But I could not get rid of the ground loop noise... so it was pretty much all the time a low noise on the background. HELIX IS THE FUTURE! Cheers.

An old school trick from way back in the day. If you have alternator whine noise, run a small 14/16awg hookup wire from the chassis of your stereo to your next component chassis, like a dsp. This should break the ground loop. If it doesn’t, run another wire to the first amp chassis from your dsp. Eventually you will break the loop.

So wait I saw you guys do the front, are there enough inputs for two sets of component speakers. Front left high and low, front right tweeter and 6.5 inch etc etc for the rear too? And then have a sub channel and center?

Is the Helix Mini the same as the Helix Pro (10 channel) DSP just less channel's?

If I sometimes ride alone and sometimes ride with a passenger, would it make sense to do two time align settings, one geared to me the driver and another geared to the center of the cabin and switch depending on how many in the car? Or is this a waste of time because it would appear that a setting time aligned to the driver would sound worse to the passenger than a neutral setting.

Great video guys! I’m interested in the mini mk2. Does it have access to all the possibilities in the helix tuning software? Or are you able to do less stuff as it’s a cheaper dsp? I’m hoping the only restriction is in the input outputs? Thank you.

I ordered an enclosure from MTI for the super cab and they decided AFTER I ordered my box to completely redesign their box for the super cab, completely different shape AND they stuck out way too far to where my kids had 0 room for their feet in the back. On top of that it looked ugly compared to their old one. Certainly looked cheaper to build though since there weren't rounded corners and such. Luckily he agreed to take it back, but I don't know why I'd buy something based on their website and then they'd send me something different. Took longer than it was supposed to as well, wasn't impressed that's for sure.

What are pros and cons to running optical over rca’s? I have a android tablet device for a head unit and it has optical. I was reading on forms that my rca power outputs arnt good voltage so I was thinking running optical. Thoughts?

I love the optical option. No noise and only 1 cable to run. Plus it seems really clear. Unfortunately there isn’t a lot of info on using toslink in car audio situations.

Hello Dean and Fernando! Have question, I'm going to run a Pac audio Loc and wanted to know if there was some way I could put a capacitor or something on my door speakers that are Factory to keep the bass down since I need to use the factory radio bass settings to have my subwoofer turn up? Thanks for any help
@bbfoto72484 жыл бұрын
@ronsk8rr Yes, you can add a "bass blocker" (which is a simple non-polarized electrolytic poly capacitor that you can find at Amazon, www.parts-express.com or other electronics stores). Dean provides a chart in the video in the link below to choose the correct capacitor value for the cutt-off frequency that you want to use. Capacitors use a value rating in "microfarads" which use the "mf" or "uf" symbol. For typical door midwoofers such as a 6.5", 5"x7", or 6"x9", you will want a capacitor that provides a cut-off frequency of at least 80Hz, and up to 120Hz. The micfrofarad value that you choose will be different depending on the nominal impedance of your speakers (typically 4 Ohms, but some car speakers can be 2, 6, or 8 Ohm as well). For reference, adding a single capacitor or "bass blocker" in-line on the positive wire of the speaker provides a 1st order crossover at 6dB per octave roll-off or "slope" on that speaker. Here is a link to Dean's video... kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZDEnoKkfs1kidE

Hi! I’ve just purchased a Helix Mini Mk2 and been following the online manual. But when i try to set the input gain while playing pink noise it says that no signal is detected? I do this with the output RCA's unplugged as the manual tells me to do. Also, the LED on my Helix flashes fast between green and red, and when i read the manual it says: "the currently selected sound setup memory is empty. A new setup has to be loaded via the DSP PC-Tool software or switch to a memory position with existing sound setup." Anyone got any idea?
