Chinese love their Baijiu. As popular as it is though, it hasn’t exactly caught on with expats and foreigners. Whether you are preparing for your first company annual dinner or, heading to the countryside with your local friends, we asked four of our western friends to taste some of the different brands of Baijiu that are popular in China, here are the results!

maotai is already the most famous baijiu in china, and most expensive one. almost 200 pounds. these guys cant appreciate baijiu

@@Lee-fw3vq The maotai in this vedic are not the original one, all baijiu come from Maotai city are called maotai jiu, but only the original ones form the particular factory taste good. The Maotai in the video is Maotai Yingbinjiu, which is very cheap only cost 30USD

Please try Mei Kuei Lu Chiew, the red one with fermentation of wheat and rose leaves. I've fallen in love with this one, makes other jiu taste like shit.

@@whalecom0 There are many types of Maotai, the two in this video are cheap, they are not the original Maotai jiu, actually they were made in the Maotai city but different factories and used different methods, and the prices are way lower than the original Maotai jiu, one original Maotai is about $200 USD/ bottle , the cheap ones only worth $30 USD

Finally got around to trying baijiu yesterday. I was not impressed. Tasted like how I imagine cowfeed would taste. Now shochu, THAT's the money spirit.

Not necessarily. Lots of people do glass shots in China during banquets. They do like 3 shots on an empty stomache at the beginning of the feast and shots throughout the banquet as they toast every single individual at the table (sometimes in the entire banquet hall in like a wedding event). I'm talking about GLASS shots.
