Uncle is absolutely right regarding pi... pi is an irrational number and any fraction can at best approximate pi. Can somebody explain the rationale of BODMAS? I mean why do we need to butcher the reading sequence and go straight with the bracket first?
@DarkSoul-kn3bo2 жыл бұрын
@@mono9196 You can use common sense to find the rationality of bodmas. It will be better with an example. Consider there are 3 basket filled with same number of blue and same number of red balls, and also consider there are 5 balls outside. So the equation for total number of balls will be : 5 + 3 x ( no of red balls + no of blue balls). no of red balls and no of blue balls are the total number of balls in one basket, then multiply by 3 to get 3 baskets worth of balls, then you add 5 for the balls that are outside. if you assume number of blue balls as 5 and red balls as 6 then the total number of balls will be 38. BUT if you go according to reading sequence it will be 88 which is wrong

Who else counted 21184:4 in their head? I did it the way the Singaporean math teacher Yeap Ban Har teaches it. Instead of going from right to left, you go from left to right. First, you separate the tens of thousands from thousands and them from hundreds and them from tens and ones. 20000+1000+184 20000:4=5000 1000:4=250 100:4=25 84:4=21 Now, you add them all together: 5000+250+25+21=5275+21=5296. -- The equation at 5:49 is also moderate to solve if you know the following things: #1 the order of operations #2 you divide the numbers into units of tens and ones. #3 you know your number bonds. #4 fractions #5 you have to go back and fort and not get misled by the operations like I did.

When you have something like a×b÷c it sure is equal to a×b×(1/c)=a×(1/c)×b=(1/c)×a×b (and switching a and b) because of commutativity of multiplication. But it actually becomes a fraction which is (a×b)/c so either you divide a×b by c or either a or b by c before doing the product (that's up to you) It so means a×b÷c = (a×b)÷c = (a÷c)×b = a×(b÷c) so no when doing only divisions and multiplications adding brackets won't change a thing

Too bad the lady still picked the wrong answer, or not the other 2 is right, just how to argue about it. So long as it solves the question and we need to be fluid about mathematics (so long as it is leading to the right answer and the reasoning is correct).
