Honestly, there's a feature from a mod called "Dawn of a new era" That has a feature I wish this mod had. Being able to sanction specific land not to expand into. Being able to create native reserves would be cool, as a way to keep from losing potential missions, and Trade outposts.

Hah, I remember when I messed with this mod a while back and they only had two rows of goods. I love that this kind of mods exist. Caveman 2 Cosmos is the same sort of deal, it's exactly the sort of thing you want if there's just no quantity of Civ that's enough for you. Even that version was already way too much Civ4Col for me, but I really can't fault the ambition.

C2C just took sooooo long to play it was very difficult to get into. WTP takes longer than regular Civ4Col but it's not near C2C length thankfully.

I can see that, it's an enormous mod for sure, built by a lot of different people over many years and through many different iterations and names. Some people are really into it, some not so much.

I used to play the "Religon and revolution" mod, just started the video and this one seems to have a lot of common features.

I think it might be an evolution from a splinter team of RaR if I remember right, but perhaps not. WTP really combines a lot of previous mod work plus new designs.

I think 'We the P' makes the colonization too complicated. As for me I prefer the Tac mod.

Bought Civ 4: Colonization on release but never really got into it. Been recently playing Freecol (which I love) and have been hearing about this mod. Checked out your video and this one really seems to be amazing take on the colonization formula. I'll have to try WTP mod once I've learned to play Freecol first. Might take some time though 😅 Thank you for a good and comprehensive look at the mod! It's exactly what I was looking for. You deserve a sub mate😊

Thank you so much man. It's actually missing a few components that I didn't review but I'm always concerned about video length since KZbin seems to more and more prefer shorter stuff since that it often what appeals most to the general audience. These components are also really cool. One day maybe I'll make a deep in depth guide, the mod designers have been pushing me to make one at some point.

Has the memory allocation issue on larger maps been fixed as of Dec 2024? I am still having the crash occur and can’t quite figure it out.

Slave ships could be fancy add in game. It may come when triangle trade come in game.

Mulato is black and Hispanic mix. (Coming from the word Mula, horse and donkey mix) Native and Hispanic is called Mestizo. Native and black was called a Zambo. Cholo is a mix of a Mestizo with a Native (1/4 Spanish) A Castizo was the opposite (3/4 Spanish) A Criollo was 100% Hispanic but born in America. All of these were believed to be inferior to the European. Anyways can't wait for civ 4 to be on sale to try the mod, I ain't paying full price for a 20 year old game

Knew mulato and mestizo but not more than that. As for the game price, the base is Civilization 4: Colonization, which is 19.99 on Steam at the moment.

@@DyllinWithIt I couldn't resist and bought it. Played it all day for 2 weeks. AI cheats, I don't like how it cheats, but I'm afraid that if a tune down the difficulty nobody would declare wars no more. By any chance do you know if the AI is just as aggressive on the first difficulty? (not really that aggressive on conquistador but if it's even less aggressive would be like I'm playing alone)

@@ribps289 If you're playing the WTP mod, the AI would be pretty passive on the lowest difficulty setting. I think that aggression is based mostly on power difference between yourself and the AI with somewhat increased aggression at higher levels. If it's base game, the AI is just bad in the unmodified version. The devs are often on their Discord if you'd like to know for sure.

I never played Civ 4 or the remake of Colonization. I had heard you would get penalized for having a big empire / a lot of cities, does this hold true with the Colonization remake?

No the only penalty is more management time spent deciding what to do. In WTP I think buildings get a little expensive in terms of lumber with every citizen added to the colony but not much more.

Is the turn limit increased to make up for all the insane amount of extra content you have to finagle?

On slower game speeds, yes, but I think it's the same speed as the remake of colonization. However, there is no turn limit other than beating the AI or other players to Independence if you care about that.
