Dwyane said himself that he's watched Bron turn and ankle that would have him out 2 weeks and just tighten his shoe up. Out of all his physicals Lebron's strength is the most overlooked. He is built perfectly to take the knocks of the sport. He's huge and got the quick twitches, but his ligaments, tendons and overall frame just keep him ģoing. This makes me curious about what a model would look like for players who went straight to the league compared by style/position…Not spending your absolute prime years body-wise in college ball. Establishing yourself early. The likes of KD and Kobe played/will play long as using those early 3/4 seasons not in college will help vs the backend 3/4 seasons where each year cost a lot more in terms of durability points. Duncan and curry both have very specific styles that are favorable to a longevity but even TD waned to your point. We’ll never know, but had Lebron spent time in collegiate ball, I’d wager that would have been an exponential headwind on his durability in the NBA. Another jam packed gem, much love

I mean, there was a big buzz in the late 90’s to early 00’s of teams trying to do just that, and the only problem is that a LOT of those players were just busts. They weren’t ready mentally or physically, couldn’t handle the money, the fame, the stress. They lacked refined skill, a real teammate mentality, and had never seen competition to the level of the NBA, Lebron was an exception, not the rule, and its important to keep that in mind.

@badasssnow3 жыл бұрын
It's crazy because the hype around him in the draft was about how physically explosive he could be in the NBA. And the common understanding of guys who peak early physically, who's bread and butter is physicality. Is they burn bright, the trade with the devil, so to speak, with that is longevity. Especially the High flying guy's that are always dunking. They always seem to be betrayed by their knees early and lose a step. His longevity with the WAY he plays is insane to me. If you told someone early in his draft, he'd be 19 years in with no obvious decline in stats they'd say impossible watching him play. It defies all current understanding of the affects of the NBA on the body, joints, knees, spine, all current understanding of physical limitations.

Apologies for mixing sports, but watching this reminded me of a couple of the greatest hockey players ever. Gordie Howe was a top 5 scorer in the NHL for 20 consecutive seasons. And when Chris Bosh was mentioned, it reminded me of this mind blowing stat. Between Gordie Howe's first and last NHL games, Bobby Orr was born, made it into the NHL, played his whole career, and was elected into the hall of fame. It's absolutely insane. Gordie Howe's highest season point total in the NHL came when he was 40 years old. And when you mentioned LeBron having all that hype as a 17 year old and exceeding the hype. Wayne Gretzky was dubbed "The Great One" when he was 10 years old. He was making the news in those days and there were headlines about how he was worth paying to see. Great video. I will say I don’t think you could call Tim Duncan “bad” in his last season. He wasn’t giving you 20 and 10 a night anymore, but he was one of the most important pieces of a 67-win Spurs team that - statistically - was one of the best defenses ever. Excellent piece. There were so many players that were supposed to be the "Next Jordan". I remember all the hype being surrounded by LeBron and I couldnt help but to think that he was just another young kid who wouldnt live up to the hype or expectations. My fandom grew by the possession it seems. He was electric! He was a lock down defender, he could bring the ball up the floor, he could score from anywhere, he would pass the ball and get his teammates involved. Even if a player would miss a couple shots in a row LeBron would go right back to him and a lot of times that player would make the shot. It seems like every game was must see tv. I'd always get up out my seat for something LeBron did on the court. I remember when he first started to do chase down blocks, the refs would always call goaltending, eventually they would get it right. I remember as the clock would wind down going in to halftime, LeBron would always seem to get the rebound off an opponents miss, run up the floor and shoot a half court buzzer beater and HIT like every other game. BOX OFFICE!!!! His game reminded me of my own, accept he was 6'8 with super human athleticism. I liked to watch Jordan play but I always felt like he was a ball hog. Same with Kobe. I have the utmost respect for both their games. For me, LeBron became the best player I had ever seen when he carried the Cavs to the Finals in 07. That performance he put on against the Detroit Pistons was epic, he was only 22 years old. In fact, I truly believe that his performance was so great that NBA Greats like Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen all got on the phone with each other and discussed joining forces in Boston so that they could take on that young man. Its been a beautiful thing following Bron's career, I was too young to remember Jordan in the 80s but I caught all of him in the 90s. I remember being disappointed that he retired twice. I remember being a Penny Hardaway fan but disappointed because he couldnt stay on the floor. I remember being a Reggie Miller fan but always being disappointed because he would always take an L in the playoffs. I remember becoming an Allen Iverson fan but being disappointed because he would always be in trouble or hurt. I remember liking to watch Kobe but wasnt a big fan of his because he was also a ball hog. I remember becoming a TMac fan but was disappointed because he too would be plagued by injuries. Then came LeBron James. The first game I sat and watched was the Cavs vs Mavs. The Mavs were red hot in the mid 2000s. LeBron would come in to town and toy with the Mavericks. We had a couple players who were spectacular role players and lock down defenders. Their names were Marquis Daniels and Josh Howard. I remember Bron having his way with them almost like he gave them $40 for a service. hahaha. I'll never forget Bron driving baseline and taking off on 1 leg with Josh Howard being draped all over him and double clutching and did some sort of sideways 2 handed jam on the front of the rim. That may have ended Josh Howards career, it seems like after that he went on to become a pot partaking player, a weed smoking activist if you will. I'm not sure what happened to Marquis Daniels, he hit the trade block and was never heard of again. I watched every game of LeBron's from that point on. I've been engaged in so many arguments debating people about who is the GOAT LeBron or MJ. Its Bron and its not even close anymore. Bron Kobe Kd MJ and Steph are the best basketball players I've ever seen. In That Order!

@a-robm86083 жыл бұрын
Jimmy, thank you for bringing clarity to what we are witnessing with Lebron. And he’s not done yet! Crazy. Longevity is a skill mastered by few. The amount of training, diet, and determination it takes to play 19 NBA seasons (and counting) is remarkable. Larry Bird was my childhood favorite because I always marveled at his all around ability. I always thought he was better than Magic because he could pass, rebound, be a playmaker, and shoot at the highest level. Now I see Lebron doing the same things but for almost twice as long career wise!! Lebron has elite skills at nearly every facet of the game. And that doesn’t include his most valuable asset, his basketball IQ, his uncanny knowledge of the game. Being able to predict and dictate plays on offense and defense. Think about the fact that he’s been the best player on his team since probably 8 or 10 years old. And at literally every level he’s won. AAU, High school, then to drop 25 plus, with rebounds, assists, steals, blocks in his very first NBA game till today. You can argue Jordan had a higher peak (maybe), but only Kareem is in his league for all-time greatest player to ever step on a court. And only Lebron took mediocre talent to the finals. And that’s his legacy, put Lebron on the court with four other dudes and he’ll make them a winner. Put him with one or two other all stars and you get championships. Unbelievable career and player!! My hats off.
@richardjackson56703 жыл бұрын
You’re so way off it’s not even funny 😆. Just because he’s playing at a high level at this stage doesn’t make him the greatest. Look at how Jordan didn’t just elevate the league, he elevated the way people do business around the world. He was must watch tv. Lebron is not must watch! Stat padding is does not mean you’re the greatest, it just means you played a long time at a high level because you spend millions on your body and health a year. Good for him for doing that, but that has absolutely ZERO to do with how great he is! The numbers don’t matter. The question is, who was most feared? MJ, Kobe, Bird, Magic, Isaiah Thomas, Curry, Durant… those guys you feared. But nobody was feared more than Jordan! In my opinion that’s the mark of the greatest player! It doesn’t matter what numbers say.

@@xSwayWRLD honestly irving has more chance to go to the finals than lebron atm, even not playing yet, once he comeback nets will be the best team, but sure, lebron has more leadership i agreed.

I cant see anything wrong with his play on the court, even with some weaker playoff moments, those are semi reasonable. I dislike the guy for his ego, the way he builds teams, and surrounds himself with clown teammates. If he didn't say shit like I want my fucking respect, I'd respect him more as a person. Do I think he's the greatest of all time? Yes in some aspects, no in others. Do I think he's the best NBA role model or has the best legacy? Not even close.

Amazing video that perfectly sums up why I have Lebron as my GOAT. No disrespect to MJ. The man was an absolute killer. But Lebron is an anomaly that we’ve never seen. To be that skilled at pretty much every aspect of the game as long as he has and with the consistency he’s displayed throughout his entire career no matter the situation is what I admire the most about him. And again if you choose Jordan I get it. You’re not wrong in choosing him over Lebron. He’s just more my style just like Jordan is probably more your style. Apples and Oranges.

This is how it’s done, you have an opinion and also accept those of others. I lean towards Greatest Of Their Era Because it’s near impossible to compare across generations. Even greatest at their position, is tough when choosing a centre, the competition is intense.

Exactly. I agree they are impossible to objectively compare because of the different time periods they played in, and never getting to compete against each other. I think about it as if you’re a GM and you have any player to choose from in a fantasy draft, who you picking 1st overall? For me it’s Bron. I’m down to have an intelligent and reasonable debate with anyone on why I feel the way I feel and love to hear opposers feelings/ideas because they may say something I didn’t know or didn’t take into consideration. It doesn’t always have to be a huge fight or name calling. And once someone goes political the conversation is completely over. I’m talking basketball

@@josepht5331 thank you that's how debate works. Not shtting on player for EVERY little detail and ignoring main picture.

Here’s a fun fantasy GM challenge: You need to build 2 teams. List your top 20 players. For team A you pick the first 5 and last 5. For team B you pick players 6 to 15. So team A has the best starters, but team B has the best bench, which in a 7 game series really matters.
