Some of the modern hip churches do abbreviated version that leave our or harshly modify the third verse. The significance of Myrrh being given to the child is better understood when you know that in that time Myrrh was pretty much only used at funerals to cover the smell of the deceased. So to give myrrh at a birth would be considered odd and part of the foreshadowing of the story. There is one modern version I have seen where they pretty much stuck to tradition but gave the bass the middle verse and had the soprano do the grim third verse. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3bXhnqdd9yte68

But the beauty you're admiring is the interior of a chapel. A church is a building located within a parish, which is a geo-ecclesiastic territory within a geo-ecclesiastic territory of a diocese administered by a bishop from his chair in the dioceses' cathedral. For each parish within his diocese the bishop appoints a priest to administer the sacraments inside the parish church or its graveyard (and other places under certain circumstances or by permission of the Bishop). A chapel is an ecclesiastic edifice built at the discretion of someone or something other than the Bishop responsible for the diocese in which it is located. It is commonly built for the convenience of those living, working or studying nearby the chapel. The priest(s) serving the chapel do so under the authority of the bishop. A chapel is simply (but not always) a church without a parish and serving some Christians on the basis of convenience of location.

You're saying the church is the people, not the building. I agree, but in normal English lexicon, the building is also a church. Lets not nitpick.

The last paragraph of the new testament is an explicit invite. The process to be 'born again' is basically - ask forgiveness for sins (not all your fault- it's a birth default) and ask for Christ to live in your heart. Now you are a saved christian done and dusted- that's the first and most important big step.

The three Kings had only a rumor to go by. But it moved them to make that long journey. The scribes were much better informed, much better versed. They sat and studied Scriptures like so many dons, but it did not make them move. Who had the more truth? The three kings who followed a rumor, or the scribes who remained sitting with all their knowledge?
@bradleyhauf23468 жыл бұрын
+Judi Harbin if was a rumor. rumors are ancient sinful conduct, the same goes for worries pride/proudness and furthermore silliness and fun. they're all characteristic of vices. not virtues.

the constellations in the sky had great meaning and significance to the astronomers of the ancient world, including the Magi. they knew Scripture and the teachings of Daniel the Old Testament saint. they knew that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem and for centuries astrologers had been looking for the astronomical signs of his coming. This was far from acting on rumor although they did have faith in the Scriptures
