We played a version of this game at my jobs holiday party. Whoever brought a gift got to exchange. The gifts were numbered. We pulled a number out a hat and that was the gift you picked up. After everybody had a gift in hand they repulled numbers and you got to choose if you wanted to steal or not. After all the numbers were called we opened the gift we had. You couldn't start or end with your own gift. We had a $5 limit, but that isn't required.
