That's so interesting. I HAVE A "I MET MICHELLE OBAMA" story that I have told 1000 times since 2008 when I met her in Las Vegas! The part that makes me tell it to anyone is how SHE WENT OUT OF HER WAY to shake my hand when others had stepped in my way several times OR pulled her in for a hug AS SHE WAS REACHING TO SHAKE MY HAND. My High School Counselors definitely didn't try to keep me from succeeding. I was excited about going to school every day. Mr. Gingrich, Mrs. Bernstein, Mr. Merlino, Dr. Norman Dpencer, Ricardo Martin, Mrs. Gaddon, Dr. Gaddy, Mr. Tomasco, Coach Hill, Coach Morgan (gymnastics), Coach Hamilton, JV Basketball. Dr. Benjamin Peterkin at FAMU, my Professors at Tempke, Community College (even when I was pregnant), my teachers at The Art Institute excited me every day. I felt alive. Because I used to sew my outfits every day before I went to class, they gave me fabric. When I ran out of fabric, I made clothes with my curtains. My dance teacher st Stephens School of Dance, Rhonda. You cant just have hope, and joy to make it through. You have to have Passion.
