Very interesting thing about the ukrainian men not being able to leave..I mean, it is hard but it is understandable. However, allowing all the women to leave is a big mistake, especially now. They should not be forced to go to battle but they should stay to keep running the country's economy and society, that should be their contribution. Now you see millions of them over the world living a great life in many cases while their brothers, husbands or fathers are dying. Here in BA where I am from we have thousands of ukrainian girls living a good life and nothing against that at all, but for us argentinians it can be a bit weird to see that even though we will not mention it because it is not really none of our business. We know there are thoussnds of ukrainian women evne fighting though and it is amazing and that is why we support Ukraine as a country, but losing a big part of their female population is not good for the war strategy
@gopro369Ай бұрын
I hear your point but you offer no solution to a very complex problem. So are you suggesting Ukraine should have forbid women to leave? What about the children? have that even crossed your mind? Most of women who left - left with children to protect them from being killed. And those who stayed... are you aware of that statistic? How many kids were killed or mutilated by russians? You should look into those numbers. To let women leave for the children's sake was the most humane and right thing to do. Or are you suggesting do not let leave old women or childless women but with kids are ok? Let me put this in simple words: people should be able to decide what should they do, government does not own them. Who wanted to leave - left(including men, I personally know more than a dozen men who left, most of them of course illegally), And who wanted to stay - stayed, men or women. Yes, more people in the country would be better for economy and blah blah blah, but would you be willing to put your life on the line? if not, then shut the F up! Not everyone is a hero. Most people just want a better life for themself, there is nothing wrong with that, do not judge.

Ukraine should look at rooftop solar with low cost of lithium batteries from China and panels. I built my own DIY off grid system for $15k we have a entire community online called DIY solar forum. Lithium iron phosphate is much safer then batteries used in many Tesla's which are Nickle based. Ukraine could invest in small solar kits for homes even someone making a portable system lot cleaner then a noisy generator which burns gas 24/7 even if your only using tiny amount of power. The biggest obstacle of DIY solar is local regulators and utilities who want to over regulate solar so it's super expensive.
@SergeySavchenkoKiev2 ай бұрын
we have it a lot already, but the problem is many people live in appartment buildings, so you can't put your own solar panel on a roof.. Solution that we use - is hybrid invertors + batteries. For example 5 kw invertor + 7-10 kwh LiFePo battery is around 5-6k $ with installation. Batteries charge while there is electricity and they can provide you with necessary electricity for prolonged hours.. It's rare that we don't have electricity for more than 4 hours, during the hardest periods it's 4 hours out 4 hours on.. While there is no regular russian attacks on the grid, government manages to stabilize, and for last 2 weeks there were almost no outages.. But for private house you should definitely consider solar panel and we also have government program, that worked before war when you can sell excessive green energy that you produce into the system, basically not only having selfsufficient household but also additional income
@SergeySavchenkoKiev2 ай бұрын
And there is also not so obvious problem - water supply network.. Though it's a critical infrastructure and city always supply apartment building with water, but the pressure from the system only allows water to come up to 5-6 floor, there are pumps inside building that delivers water higher, but they don't work during outages.. I live on 12th floor so during blackout I also don't have water.. And the solution is also invertor + batteries for the water pumps for the whole building, but they have to be much more powerful than for private apartment..

FYI...there was a faster route out of Kyiv, but you would fly out of Krakow rather than Warsaw... The IC train from Kyiv to Przemysl - where customs is done nonstop onboard train - and the PKP IC train from Przemysl to Krakow. But I'm sure you enjoyed your trip regardless 😁
