I'm relatively a newbie to whiskey, but have been a subscriber to your channel for about a year. I had no idea you had done a Bardstown tour. I just visited there last week without knowing anything about them and was BLOWN AWAY!!! I only did the barrel thieving tour, but fell in love with their campus, operations, and selections. I even tried a flight at the bar and immediately put the Amrut Collaborative as the best whiskey I've ever had. I balked at the $160 price tag, but now I regret not picking it up. I can't wait to pick up their Origins and start hunting for the Amrut!

Although I am not into bourbon, nor hard alcohol, this process was absolutely fascinating to watch - it is very similar to how craft breweries brew their beer. I would love to see more episodes like this. It’s always enjoyable to watch someone’s passion unfold in front of a camera. Keep up with the awesome videos!

I was in a walking boot when my son and I visited the Bardstown Bourbon Company in October, so we passed on the tour and went straight to a tasting in the Vintage Bourbon Room. It's an amazing sight and pretty unique for any distillery I've visited. We had lunch at the BBCo's restaurant and I had a Hot Brown that was so good you'd slap your own mama for it. Highly recommended.

I encourage anyone who hasn't been to the area to include Makers Mark on your tour. It will give you an entirely different perspective in regards to the process. Some of the smaller distilleries are also worth the trouble of making an appt. if necessary. By all means, also go to one of the large ones. I think all provide a piece of the puzzle in regards to bourbon.

Downtown Bardstown is pretty small to be honest but there is a hamburger joint we went to that was very good. Smaller place but they do burgers well! We didn’t have a chance to do bars but we were recommended to go the the Tavern that’s downtown also. Again it’s not big so you should be able to easily find stuff.

Thanks for sharing. While watching, I was wondering if the mash bill is ever tweaked based on the quality of grain. Different corn varieties have varying starch levels. Do they check that?
@slbdrinks2 жыл бұрын
They did not mention tweaking any mash bill. That’s a good question though.
@ikiruyamamoto10502 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. Like when wine makers test the level of sugar in their grapes, do they test the level of sugar in their corn? Or maybe it isn't as important because it is a distilled product.

Love the bubbling fermenter of Brewers beer @3:13. I bet that smelled fantastic. Glad to see they are not simply using MGP to produce their distillate and then simply paste on a label and a fake story of how it was produced in the ancient tradition of someone or other. Loved the bottle library at the end. Grandmother had an old bottle of "Prohibition Whisky" left over from actual medical needs. Neither was much of a drinker apparently. That old bottle reeked of history and the aroma of old whisky. Never got to taste any :-(
