We Towed The Trailer Down The Wrong Road!

We got into a tough spot with our car and cargo trailer/camper and did a little damage trying to get out. We went down a "Public Access" road, not aware that it had fallen into disuse due to the road being washed out and we ended up having to back the trailer all the way out!!! But the area, "9 Mile Canyon", was absolutely beautiful with it's plentiful Native American rock art and spectacular scenery. We also inspect some abandoned cabins and ranch buildings with left over equipment.

I don't try to deliberately tear up my equipment, but the reason I bought it in the first place was to let me explore the back roads. Scratches are just the evidence of my adventures!

The night stars had to be looking phenomenal away from the city lights being tucked away back in that canyon. The echoing was great, too. You could have probably called a pack of coyotes to your camp. Thanks for the fascinating place to explore.

@@gonagain I got the same feeling when we visited Mesa Verde last fall. Those people started out on level ground and progressively moved into incredibly arduous confines until they just left. Curious as to what was going on there in that era. Same for Cahokia Mounds also.

Oh boy have i ever in my 76 years drove into places like that where i had no choice but back out with my rig .. ( polish out the small scratches later) .. Nice find of old cabins and rock art , there is a name for that ? Petro something i think.. But still a great find on your end , i like that of old cabins and machines from an earlier era .. What a hard life those folks must have had with winters to deal with too.. well done .. Very interesting site with a lot of structures still standing ..Great that you are capturing it all on video ..

OMGosh, this is definitely on my bucket list. Thank you so much for sharing. I could easily spend weeks there exploring, well at least as long as is legally permitted. 😁 Sorry about your Utah pinstripping. I drive a truck with a truck camper on it. Currently I'm staying at a family member's property to do repairs on the camper and to repaint the truck. Due to the remote places I prefer, the truck will be painted in white bedliner paint. Did the bed in black bedliner paint already. Almost finished sanding down the truck and prepping it for painting. The camper paint is holding up well but when its time comes for new paint, I'll use the white bedliner on it too. Need something tough to stand up to adventurous areas. All the best to you both. 💞🐶😽😻💞

Hello from just over the mountains. I'm over here in Manti city in Sanpete county in Utah. I spent the weekend up on skyline drive where the weather is much nicer than down in the valley. They usually call the canyons a mile name based upon how far it is from the city that is the county seat. So nine mile canyon is 9 miles from Price city, which is the county seat. On the other side of the mountain range here we have a six mile canyon, a nine mile reservoir, and a twelve mile canyon all based upon the distance from the county seat, Manti. Have fun in Utah.

That was great. Nice treat. I always enjoy looking at things like that. What fun it is to wonder about the people standing there carving the pictures. Or even what might have been going thru the minds of those that built the stone house. Wonder what they were thinking about the time the stones got to the second or third level off the ground. Thinking about what things were to come in the future for them and having a nice place to stay. Then as it is now.

Top dollar value guys. Thanks for posting. No cave exploring? There seemed to be a cave (@ about 14:00) just right to send Linda in, 😂😂. That cable dozer, yeah, I’ve actually driven one of those old buggers, probably not as old as that one, but was petrol start diesel run. We had to repair the cable control clutches, but yeah it was fun to drive. And you know Rick, there are better ways to add pinstripes to your vehicle, 😂😂😂. Cheers guys, thanks for sharing, beautiful to see.

@@gonagain Some days we'd have to crank the old bastard to get it running, 🤣🤣🤣. Kickback was a bitch. Only had raise & lower controls on the blade and ripper, tilt and slew (angle offsets) were set up manually, 🤣🤣🤣. But we dug dams and made roads with it, did its job albeit slowly, but better than doing it by hand 🤣🤣🤣. On the back shifts, if my work was up to date, I'd head down and help out dozer drivers at the coal plant if needed, driving D11 Cats. Now THAT my friend was a real hoot! Until another driver scared the crap out over me by pushing coal up behind me and pushed me into the receiving hopper and almost covered me in coal, 🤣🤣🤣. Took me a while to work out how to escape 🤣🤣🤣. Could never achieve payback though.

Nice! Thanks for this! I'll have to add this to my list of places to visit. Reminds me a bit of a 4 day backpacking trip I did on the Escalante River, south and east of where you shot this. We started with a 10 mile hike down Harris Wash till we met the river. Going down the river canyon we kept crossing and recrossing the river, sometimes hiking down the river-course until the trail re-appeared. I remember seeing the caches up on the canon walls. Looked like enclosures of stacked rocks, not in a pile like the one you saw. I suspect the canyon floor is much lower now than it was thousands of years ago. You'd have a pretty good climb to get to one of the caches today, if you even could. I'd love to see the inside. I have fond memories of that trip. Cheers!

In some of the more remote caches they have found clay jars filled with grain. I don't know for sure that it was a grainary, but it matches others I've seen in the area.

One time I was out exploring forest service roads and went down one that looked interesting. Steep hill one side, steep 200 foot slope on the other, one lane. 10 % grade+. Went for it and about a mile down it around a bend was a washout. Had to back out the entire way. Good thing it was just a 85 Ford Ranger. Cool find.

It's always such a relief to get back out of those predicaments. Got stuck in the snow once with a trailer behind and nowhere to turn around. Had to do the unhitch maneuver. I hope you're out enjoying yourself!

Hello again Gonagain nice to see you two. I like that I may try and find this place. The cabin with the big beams in the ceiling I bet I could make a nice table out of that and maybe a cabinet. I can't get over how old the wood is and still could be used and here in Georgia it would be gone in weeks being left out in the weather. I would live there. I love stone house's I have always wanted one. The best trip I ever took was when I closed my shop for two weeks and just took off with no place in mind I only cover about 800 miles but any place that looked like no one went there I stopped and stayed the night and even if I was only on the road for an hour if I saw another place I stopped. No rush to be anywhere and nothing to do but sit and relax. I think that'll be my next trip. I am hoping with my set up that I can stay out for months with out having to stop for anything but food with 3.4 KW of power and solar to keep it charged I should be fine. We hope your tomorrow is better than your today is.
