Best wishes to your Dad, I hope he recovers soon. Always family first. I did a load of hedge trimming when I started work on a farm after I left school (many years ago) I really enjoyed it. The only part I did not enjoy was when I got a length of barbed wire wrapped round the flail!! That took a good while to extract.

Talk about similarities. We traded our pa93 for a 5755 noticed exactly the same benefits as yourself lot easier to take on and off. We run ours on a MF7614. We mounted the up-down leaver on the offside door on the door rail between it and the glass, wee bracket onto the rail
@IFarmWeFarmАй бұрын
I might do the same, yes very easy to take off and put on. Saves a lot of time
@arwelagrimachinery20 күн бұрын
Really the single pump might been alright in its time used on something more basic , but the modern tractors now use the hydraulic oil to drive/move everything, heating it up itself without the extra strain of constant pumping through the spool all day
@arwelagrimachinery20 күн бұрын
Modern gearbox uses the oil to keep 4wd off (not a new thing I know along with PTO) , clamp the clutches for gears, work clutches for shuttle, work the hydrostatic steering (1980's and older usually had a separate steering pump) etc

We got a pa93 hedge cutter fully independent had it since 1988 perfect. Sales rep told us years ago semi independent trimmer will heat alot of tractor back end so since that that why our trimmer is fully independent perfect
@colmanlong1032Ай бұрын
Great info,now I know, fully independent is the answer.
@richardfarenden1215Ай бұрын
@@colmanlong1032 on my headgear cutter got four cables in cab for controls one pto on shaft that drive all the oil for the hedge cutter. If you have a semi independent hedge cutter and a oil pipe goes for the main head it will drain it from tractor back end on fully independent it just drain from tank
@samuelrobinson9012Ай бұрын
Iv an old McConnell about 12 years now. Bought it of a neighbour so knew it worked OK, tho had done a lot of work. Haven't a friggin clue what kinda pumps on it😂😂😂, but it sure works well, with a very good reach.

The hedges in Ireland are no joke! I was over there and driving a rental car around the countryside. While making a 3 point turn around, I bumped into a hedge. Not a big bump, just a bump. Lost my entire deposit. Lesson learned.

@DmitryMurphy-p7hАй бұрын
The reason why the rotor stops is because the more modern hyd- motors are a some what smaller than the older ones. the small motors are spinning faster but they lack the torque- thus, it is easier to stall them. regarding the oil over heating, I would be inclined to take the explanation that you received with a pinch of salt. The bottom line is that it does not take much of an oil flow to push a couple of rams in and out- I would be looking for a restriction in the valve chest or solenoid valve etc, Happy Hunting.

You’re legally allowed to cut roadside grass verges in the summer time because nothing ever nests inside grass, nettles, thistles excetra.
@johnhughes2113Ай бұрын
Only at road junctions can we cut grass (north Wales) the rest of the verge must be left to re seed

If your rotar on 5455 is lazier than your 93 hi power your pump or motor is worn I found opposite I buy them new use for around 10 years and change
@IFarmWeFarmАй бұрын
I think the pump and motor are ok, it’s just a different style of motor on the head, possibly a slip clutch. Had a few people on to me today saying theirs does the very same from new. It’s not really an issue and only happens on the longer grass.
@rogerpeak3752Ай бұрын
@@IFarmWeFarm Cutting long grass with the flails rotating downwards is very power consuming because the cut material is thrown forwards onto the grass yet to be cut, whereas if you have the flails rotating upwards the cuttings are flung under the hood and onto the ground ahead of the roller ( which should always be set below the cutting height of the flails when cutting on the ground, and above when doing hedge work ). Hydraulic roller height adjustment has been one of the biggest improvements in hedge cutter design over the years.
