We ordered 7 ringneck pheasant eggs from Ebay and used one of our broody hens to hatch them out. I set up the broody hen seperate from the rest of the broody hens with food and water in a coop. I put the pheasant eggs under the broody hen and let her go for 24-25 days, during the 24-25 days we had a tornado and sold several chickens. So many things happened during this time that the pheasant eggs were being incubated. I heard that chickens have been able to hatch out pheasant eggs but that the hatch rate isn't great, also because we got the eggs in the mail, so I was doubtful as to whether they would hatch. But during this process the mother hen surprised me by staying on the eggs the entire 24-25 days. And in the end she ended up hatching one baby chick and it hatched on the 26th day of being under her. This little pheasant was doing fantastic but the rest of the eggs didn't hatch, so I put them all on a rock and started breaking them open to see if they were develoepd and suprisingly none of them had developed and only one of the eggs developed, which was the one that hatched. Overall I'am extremely proud of this mother hen for hatching out this pheasant and hopefully this pheasant is a female so we can create a phicken or a chisant and crossbreed her with some chickens.
