Kan for a proper tandem truck you aren't supposed to have the second bearing on the second section. You have a bearing placed between the first 1/4th and 1/3rd section and then the rear person steers the back wheels allowing you to make stable, or sharper turns. But it still looks cool anyway. Also if you center your steering bearings I.E. double or quadruple steering bearings over the center of mass of the wheel/steering pipes, it for whatever reason is tons more stable for heavy vehicles. This causes really tall steering sections over the wheels but works really well.

I'm surprised they haven't done more Two man vehicles that uses two pilots. Like with Miners and Wood cutters. With the Truck, I think raising it up on two tank like platforms would be a good way to go? That way you're simply driving it on top of fewer wheels on your way through the map. Just my thoughts on what I'd try. But I hope you guys are having fun with your shenanigans.
@pawloes68513 жыл бұрын
You dont need stacks of 3 wheels 1 wheel would be enough and lag would be less and for tank you can use level 5 gas engines on max power instead of electric, becouse it takes batteries, i tested engine power with very very very very heavy truck and gas engine is better than eletcric for this. Electric engine wasnt able to go up a steep hill, but gas made it. The truck had huge cube of concrete 3 inside
@jdwg53 жыл бұрын
My suggestion, if you look up the M1000 semi trailer from the US Army, you'll see a technology that would probably work. This trailer has wheels that have independent steering. I know Kosmo mentioned this in the video and you said it would have too much lag, but I would be willing to bet that tank steering on a platform that with that large of an aspect ratio, and that weight probably won't work very well. Anyways, that's my thoughts, great video as always! Love seeing all the successes and failures!

You might want to have 2 level 5 gas engines, 1 drives wheels with no steering at max power, and the other drives wheels with steering at a bit slower speed. Works good for me, also connect steering wheels together with pipes or something so they turn together
@tranminhhung16213 жыл бұрын
I suggested it in Kosmo video, so I'll also suggest it here. KAN, the massive truck isn't worth it on land, you and Kosmo can modify it to be a sea worthy ship propelled by glowbugs. Also, for in-land transport, remake your current Heli into a Heavy duty chopper for mass cargo. Either of these projects will give you an episode to look forward to.

for the steering everything seems fine, but a way you might be able to make it turn better, could be to have all the wheels more close to the middle of the trailer, so when you turn in swivels around the center of it, making it easier to steer under load

For moving crates, Maybe use a stationary machine, that goes from the packing station, directly upwards, horizontally in the direction of the trader, then horizontally in the direction of the trader again, and then down directly on the platform. like a monorail with an elevator in each end and a sharp turn in the middle. Make it out of cardboard or some kind of easily renewable block. it takes a bit longer to build than the truck, but it's faster when it's finished, and it doesn't rely on what I assume is an oversight by the developers.

Articulating that vehicle horizontally and vertically (like say 6-8 articulated trailers) might work (plus super heavy drive vehicles), but you still have the fundamental problem of the garbage floppy bearings, and the lag. Connection on kosmos vehicle needed to be below the axles. With that much weight when he pulled it lefted the front of his truck preventing him from steeering. Instead of the fixed wheels on the trailer, I would recommend putting the wheels on a plane and connecting the plane to the bottom via a single pipe and bearing and set the bearings on controllers to turn slightly and actually move the wheel direction so it turns easier. Kind of like the old model train sets. It would keep the look y'all were going for but be more functional to scrap mechanics physics

Solution to make that thing work: Both trucks should be made of concrete and the wheels from the trailer need to be moved to the center of front and back as well as getting at least one block more clearance to the trailer. Also the turning points that connect the trailer to the trucks needs to be in the center of the truck to make the weight of the trailer spread on all wheels instead of just the back ones.
@samsongrelis3863 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can have one of your vehicles specifically for turning and the other for acceleration and speed. That would probably be better than trying to have both vehicles trying to move the entire vehicle.

My 2 cents: I agree that a single trailer with so many wheels are to weird in SMS. Making 2 trucks that has their own cargo frame and connecting them so they can help each other. Making the cargo area so it's 4 high for 2 mid rows, 2 blocks above the floor, adding 2-3 high row of crates on both sides welded by the bottom on the truck. That way you can shorten the total length. Then the weight of the crates helps rather than hinder progress.

It would number the cubes (or have an individual cube's number be visible when looking at it), and it would draw a thin red line through both the horizontal and vertical midpoints (if you select a rectangular area, not just a line). It would also do this for each quadrant (if the selected area is big enough) in much lighter, grey dotted lines.

Actually this is a terrible concept. Why? They build a trailer with four set of wheels none of them steering. So when try tried to turn around the corner they were basically pulling front and back set of tires sideways which naturally causes lots of resistance. They should have designed this so that their trucks would act as front and rear set of tires. and thus two sets of tires near the middle of the trailer would act as a pivot point of the trailer.
@swskitso3 жыл бұрын
The main issue was kosmo couldnt steer with his front wheels off the ground. His fifth wheel was too high over the axles lifting his front as the rear tried to drive out from under the trailer, it could have been fixed by putting a yolk below the axle making the truck pull itself down to the ground for traction.
