12.37 that's not a cockroach my friends, those are water bugs like she said, you cannot eat the cockroach my friends because it's too dirty for human and no advantage for your body. And those insects are for the tourists to challenge my friend, normally most Thai do not eat it too. It's only for fun my friend and you just got a lot of protein for doing that. 10-20 years before you couldn't find those insect vendors easily because noone eat it but nowadays you could find them at nearly every night markets in Thailand, at the old time you could find them only at the place like Khaosarn Rd where there are a lot of Backpackers from around the world come to party and they just love to do gnarly things and challenging games so there are some Thai people brought those weird stuffs to sell in Khaosarn Rd like insects and Alligator while normally Thai people never eat them too my friends and its because there are countless of tourists came to Thailand like 40+ millions people just per year(before covid) and most of them love to do the content about the insect challenge here so nearly all youtuber who came to Thailand have to do this challenge and that's why you can find the insect vendors nearly every food market nowadays. And if you search for Thailand contents you'll found that more than 95% of youtuber who came to Thailand they did this content too, I do not understand why too but they love to do the same contents and now this challenge was already in the Top 10 bucket list of most youtubers who wanted to come to Thailand. And that's why my friend. And it's really funny here in Thailand because nowadays many kinds of insects are more expensive than the normal Thai dishes and especially those long worms the price in the supermarket like Makro(frozen worm)are already nearly 10x more expensive than the price of the pork per kilo. Hope you guys love Bangkok🙏🙏💕💕💕

I’m Thai, I think most of Thais don’t eat scorpions and I heard that it’s spread from our frontier that they eat scorpions. There’s always in tourist area, it sounds like the exotic foods for travelers who want to see something not in common. 😅

@@DPP- yes, 10-20 years ago you couldn't find it easily because there were no insect vendors here in Bangkok they just only sell in the Construction Camp sites for the labours from Esan and also the labours from the neighbors countries. And after that time they started to sell in the tourist areas like Khaosarn Rd and after tons of foreigners that came to Thailand like 40+ millions just per year before covid and most of them started to challenge and many famous youtuber also come to review and that's made these insects a must-do challenge in Thailand. @@onalonan there were lots of insect street vendors around Sanam Luang (Royal Plaza)more than 30 years ago, but they didn’t sell scorpions. Thais eats bamboo worms naka, and I love eating fried grasshoppers. 😅All of my friends had eaten bamboo worms when we studied at the university next to Sanam Luang (almost 40 years ago), kind of snacks. 😄
@onalonan Жыл бұрын
@@DPP- you're not the local Bangkok right?? Because at that time 30 years ago when I was a teenager you couldn't really find those insects to buy in Bangkok easily like nowaday also at Sanamluang if they have I bet there are not a lot like nowadays and most of them are not even a street vondors like nowadays at that time they had to sold only on their Tri-motorcycle vendors with Thai sweets like Kanom-chan, Thong-yib, Foi-Thong and they had to ride and find their customers all along the roads because noone here in Bangkok eat all of those bugs before not only just that scorpion, at that time Bangkok people just felt like the tourists nowaday too and many of them just wanted to try or for challenge with the friend, and they had to go to sell at the labour camp sites because most of their customers are labour who came from Esan and also the labour from neighbors countries like Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia at that time some of them are Karen people. I do about construction in Bangkok since that time so I know how hard for my labours to find their snack my friend. My Esan employees even told me that in Esan at the old days people there had to find those bugs to eat instead of meat or pork because many people in Esan have no money to buy the foods and he even told me that the bugs that people sold here in Bangkok are much more expensive than a normal foods they could find to eat but nowaday they already have some money(he's an engineer in my company) and he told me sometimes he just felt wanted to eat those bugs just to feed their nostalgia feeling.

@@onalonan bamboo worm is only snacks for us, I was born from the north but grown up in BKK, never eaten grasshopper, before entrance to university I studied in central Bkk, and never had met street vendors in central BKK except in school area. But when I studied in university (1987), there’s a chance to go home late at night, so many insects street vendors around Sanam Luang, i had tried the grilled eggs, fried grasshoppers for the first time. But now there’s no more street vendors like that around Sanam Luang. 😞 These days, bamboo worms are not cheap for daily meal at all.

You can search Its name can be found on the wiki by searching for "Lethocerus indicus". Normally, Thai people use it as an ingredient in some foods. Because of its strong smell And its eggs taste good, so some people eat them. If you don't like strong-smelling things, you shouldn't try it.
