The pink dip is called taramasalata: Fish roe whipped together with oil into a fluffy cream consistency. Traditionally eaten around Easter but lovely all year round!

I have just watched your video which has brought you to 1000 subscribers after having visited Desolition Sound in BC, Canada. Please don't drink Ouzo pure out of plastic cups but do it in the Greek way: 1 part of Ouzo with 4 parts of ice-cold water in a glass with ice cubes.

The place where the warm and cool water meet is a thermocline. You can deff see the water mixing. It's weird/fun to swim with half you body on either side. Thanks for sharing your awesome island cruise!

Your medsailors trips all look awesome. Very tempted to book this greek trip - everything looks so beautiful. Do you both ever get seasick on the yachts? That's the only thing that worries me :(

So Jess gets seasick easily but never on these trips! We sail really close to the coast, we are always in the Harbour at night and we only sail for a few hours a day so not too much sailing just the perfect amount 😊

The shimmering in the water, that you describe as like "gas" is fresh water percolating out of the limestone and mixing with the salt water. Over the winter when it rains the rainwater soaks down into the limestone. The fresh water is stored in the limestone and is cold because it has been underground and when it percolates out into the warmer sea water and the different densities between the two it creates that shimmering effect and as you swim through the colder fresh water into the warmer salt water the temperature is very different.

Best to inspect and clean all your blog equipment regularly so it stays in tip top shape for your videos. With the fantastic videos you make, it's good to not have the gunky lens etc marring the great shots and scenery

Jess, you experienced a thermocline boundary which distorts light between two different temperature masses. The warm surface water and the cold bottom water meet causing a rippling effect for light passing through, I.e. your vision seeing “gases”. 🏊‍♀️👀👀😍😎👫

I'm guessing the 'gas' effect is what's called a thermocline! It's the line between cooler and warmer water. You get it anywhere, not just cold places. I've been diving in Indo before and swam above one, when you stick your hand down you can feel the temperature change instantly, it's so weird.

Saganaki is the small two handed frying pan. The dish takes the name after that, similar to how spentzofai takes its name from the traditional pot used to make it in older times, spentza.
