Lee Canyon is my home mountain and I worked there as my first job as a Lift Operator. Then I moved to Brianhead and lived up at the ski area and taught skiing and snowboarding working for Mark Wilder Then I became the ski school manager for the kid's side at Eagle Point then called Elk Meadows.. But..My favorite to ride is the Arizona Snow Bowl.

Interesting video, I'm moving to Vegas this summer, I didn't know Lee Canyon was up to task. I skied there one day, but I don't know any backcountry there. I'm surprised to hear that Eagle Point is rated low compared to the others. I've skied Snowbowl a few times, definitely good, but as a powderhound, I can see going to the Utah resorts more often.

Lee canyon gets the job done for being so close, we’ve gone back this winter after fresh snow and it’s a lot of fun. Def a trade off, it’s short runs but the atmosphere is fun and it’s nice to be back home 45 min after leaving the mountain. We aren’t experts on Eagle Point but the mountain just felt broken up and inefficient to ride, im sure there’s some locals who know how to get the most out of it. Utah is def where it’s at for the most powder though!

Should have thrown Mammoth 🦣 in the mix, but Brian Head & Lee Canyon are great, haven't been to Snowbowl but Flagstaff is an amazing place.

Great video guys! This is exactly what I needed to know about the mountains around Las Vegas! Headed out to BH in 2 weeks but will definitely be hitting Lee again soon. I'm local to Vegas as well and make a ton of camping videos on my channel around the area so hit me up if you guys ever want to collab or meet up to board or camp! Cheers!

Lee Canyon can be SICK! Powder in the trees, on the steeps, and the hike-to! Just depends on the conditions, and the crowd. Midweek is fun, like most resorts

Late to see this but still useful. I'm at Brian Head as I type this. Coverage is still good and, as mentioned, quick, short runs but this type is easier on my old legs, maximum half day. Saturday tic was $39, super cheap and we got $10 resort cash for food which got us a $14 burger and fries for $4. Tomorrow's tic is $29 and I think we still get the $10 credit (still waiting to see). Lodging is cheap this late in the season too, about half of what our usual trip to Mammoth would be this time of year. Screw Mammoth with their outrageous prices and taxes on top of taxes. We'll be back to BH.

Which mountain is easier to drive up , road conditions. We come from flat florida. Im terrified of mountain driving ?
@austinandsam
@austinandsam Жыл бұрын
Brian Head, Lee Canyon and Snowbowl are all pretty simple roads with no crazy cliff exposures. 4x4 or chains will be required though, including Lee Canyon. We see people try to drive up to the mountains every year and get stuck without chains!
@dionymartinez1634
@dionymartinez1634 Жыл бұрын
@@austinandsamwe rented a 4x4 not planning to adventure just driving to the ski place. Would snow chains needed if it snows ?
@austinandsam
@austinandsam Жыл бұрын
@@dionymartinez1634 it depends on the tires. If Lee Canyon gets heavy snow, they require 4x4 with snow tires OR tire chains. Sam and I have driven up to Lee Canyon to board after major storms with our mud tires and never had an issue but our tires are pretty beefy. Keep in mind there is only a handful of days, right after a huge snow dump, that this applies. If you drive up after a mild dusting or a day after a major storm, 4x4 should be just fine because road crews do a great job at clearing the snow.

I’m completely opposite from you, big bear is first snowbowl is last for me. People go to bear for the terrain park specifically, and it is know for that. Snowbowl prices can actually get up to $250 just for a day pass during the holidays, currently it’s $200 for this upcoming Saturday. And snowbowl has HORRIBLE customer service. Also, big bear is on ikon and snowbowls season ticket options suck. For an average rider who doesn’t have loads of money, bear is a much better option. Depends where you live tho of course
@austinandsam
@austinandsam 3 жыл бұрын
That makes sense for Bear! Haha I shouldve mentioned Sam and I dont hit jumps 😅we learned how to board later in life and have been too chicken to do anything other than go fast down the hill haha Snowbowl for us had nice groomed runs and that was what we loved but i dig it for better season pass options that come with Big Bear.
@calebservi
@calebservi 3 жыл бұрын
@@austinandsam ah yeah then that definitely makes the difference. I haven’t seen the beginner side of snowbowl yet but probably beats bear by a long shot, both resorts at big bear have pretty short beginner runs
