My lgs opened 200 packs when this set came out and didn't pull 1 Sheoldred. I opened 6 and got 2... it's so random.

I bought a collector box and sheoldred was literally the only card i wanted. After 10 mediocre packs i got the stained glass version and here i am over a year later and im still happy as hell about it. That card carried the value of the box. Without sheoldred the value of my cards was like 100 bucks.

I think it is a calculated purchase. 👍 Dave will definitely get more 💵 than what he paid. Personally I would also try to factor in a few more variables before pulling the trigger myself on something like this. Time and “labor” cost as it relates to the time spent sorting, selling, etc. But if you’re having fun doing it, it’s also not so bad in terms of being work. Fortunately this is KZbin content for you, so it can definitely swing big in the positive direction. :) You should think to do this with the jumpstart product from DMU as well if they are still cheap. There are guaranteed stain glass land in each pack I think. You get a good number of cut downs and there is a chance for sheoldred too.

I definitely wanted to do it with DMU Jumpstart, but I couldn't find anywhere selling it as a comparatively cheap price as the draft boxes were.

Ok, so I have a question. Why are the cards like Contaminated Aquifer more expensive than cards like Fetid Pools? The latter also has both land types, but can also cycle for 2, so I'd say it's strictly better. Is it because of more reprints?

Yup, 100% because of reprints. Contaminated Aquifer has never been reprinted, but once it gets a few reprints it will be just the same as Fetid Pools and the others.

I traded with a guy and he offered to buy me a couple 5$ packs of my choice. One Dom United and one Ixalan Set Booster. Told my LGS owner who was there that if I pulled Sheoldred’s, I’d go naked and start screaming. He laughed it off and said yeah right. The air got tense. I still have it to this day.
