Vet receptionist here. Everywhere I’ve worked offers standard and private cremation. Standard is generally cheaper and the pet is cremated with other pets whose owner also chose that cremation; these ashes are not returned to the owner. Private cremations tend to cost more, but the pet is cremated by itself and those ashes are returned

As a pet cremator, I promise most crematories do NOT throw them all in one spot 😂 there’s different levels of cremation, like, a private cremation where your pet is the only one in there, an individual cremation where there’s multiple pets in there but they’re separated, and a communal cremation where they DO put them all in one pile BUT that’s only when you DONT want the ashes back lmao

Austin talking about how he wouldn't stop for someone in distress is surprisingly common. There are so many cases of people escaping their murdered and running for help and no one will help them. I remember one case where the woman had been shot in the head, she managed to escape even though she was almost completely blinded, and ran down a busy street completely naked, covered in blood, in broad daylight and no one stopped to help her. Her murderer eventually realized she had escaped and came and got her and got her back to the house. It's more terrifying to me to think you could be in situation like that, surrounded by people and not a single one would help you.
@youbiscuit21462 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know what I'd do if someone naked, traumatised and covered in blood asked for my help. Honestly no idea. We train ourselves to filter it out when someone is in complex long term distress that is difficult to solve (poverty, homelessness, mental illness, drug issues etc.) It might be hard to recognise when someone is in acute immediate distress that is relatively easy to solve (provide temporary shelter and call police etc.)
@emg.7212 жыл бұрын
@@youbiscuit2146 yea maybe. There's also the phenomenon of bystander effect. If something is happening in a crowded place there's a diffusion of responsibility ie "not my problem, someone else here will do something" that leads to no one doing anything. In the case I'm talking about I'm sure plenty of the cars that drove past her and saw her where super disturbed and told themselves "she's in broad daylight, there's plenty of people here, someone else will get her, I'm not getting involved" and carried on driving. I watch a lot of true crime, and like understanding how people work so I feel like I'm primed and prepped to know what to do if I was put in the bystanders shoes, but you never really know how you'll react to something like that until youre in the moment. I like to think I'd help, because I'd hope like hell someone would help me. Closest I've come to being tested like that was when I was at the mall and someone started seizing and smacked their head on the floor so hard he was bleeding. We were all standing around waiting for someone to do something and eventually I jumped in to put my sweater under his head and make sure he didn't choke or something, and got one of the bystanders to call 911. But that's nothing like seeing someone in a super threatening and disturbing life or death situation where your first instinct is to get away, or its so disturbing that its easier to rely on the diffusion of responsibility. I really don't know how I'd react either.
@r.omi982 жыл бұрын
i would call the police and maybe stay close but not help directly. it’s just so scary to think that person could also be praying on you.
@ALynn1272 жыл бұрын
I don't think it lines up necessarily because it seems more obvious that you would help a woman covered in blood than stop for someone waving you over to their car on a dark highway with no one around.

Used to work at an animal hospital - if you specified that you wanted a private cremation (just your pet) it would be JUST your pet and it's very clear which option you chose. I was the person who accepted payment and explained options. I was also around during the cremation process and when cremains were given to owners we had to double and triple check labels prior to giving them to the owner. Not sure if all places work this way, but our place was not "top notch" and we still had these processes. I'd hope there's an understanding that it would be very upsetting to not receive your pet's ashes back.

30:42 Regarding the Survivor host vs Mr. Beast, it's not simply traditional media companies vs new style media. First, the Survivor host is essentially a paid actor He works for a company that is well insured and well liable. Whereas Beast is like an unofficial CEO of his own brand (he recently left NightMedia, and I dont know what's going on at the moment). In the limited Survivor episodes I've seen the they always state that medical staff are at the ready for emegencies, and they show on video the times when medical staff were needed/requested to intervene. Granted, this also serves to "punch up" the drama of an episode, but it never seemed they were trying to hide the dangers of competing. In the few Mr. Beast episodes I've watched (most being the large competitions), the production team seems to gloss over any health issues--be it sanitary, nutirtional, or otherwise-- in there glamorously edited postings. Worst of all Jimmy the Beast hasn't addressed any of this publicly. Likely because his PR team or attorneys have advised against it. Or maybe it's even worse. Maybe he doesn't see any problems, and doesn't give a crap, so long as he can keep making a ton of money and donating enough that he can justify feeling good about it all.

hey! CVA here or a certified vet assistant. IDK how it runs in other states but here in Miami, owners pay to have their pet ashes go into the crematory privately then you get back an urn. The only time they get burned all together is if the owners don’t want the ashes back then it goes to a communal one. And i have friends in other clinics all throughout miami who have a same process. We even seperate them into diffrent colored bags and put it on the body bag tag

For anyone wondering they do not cremate your pet with a bunch of other animals and then give it back to you. If you have your pet cremated and get their ashes it is ONLY your pet. Some people who don't/ can't afford to get their pets remains opt for communal burial/ cremation, which would be what Austin is talking about. I can assure you that the dog on your night stand is in fact only your dog
@squishydough28662 жыл бұрын
Austin is not making up the cremation stuff up. However, in all the services I've had to use (lost both of my cats this year), they tell you up front the costs for a "communal" cremation versus ensuring your pet is cremated alone. The isolated cremation typically costs extra.

I love all the guests so far, and the chill vibes of this podcast, and I really enjoy watching it every week. ❤️ Since this is a fairly new pod, I’d like to give a few thoughts as a massive fan of the podcast format (and Hasan’s). For me the pod sometimes feels more like a stream segment. I’d like to see them focus more and dive deeper on topics for longer period at a time (like the youtube vs twitch). Sometimes it feels like the conversations are almost ”too” natural and relaxed, when the topics switch and bounce around very quickly. This really works for streams, and it’s one of the reasons I enjoy streams, but on a podcast it’s a bit hard to follow sometimes, and gets frustrating when an interesting topic gets cut off several times on a 1h episode. Also even though video podcasts are really trendy rn, I personally prefer a pod that works just as well with just the audio, and I think just a bit of structure would help this goal tremendously! Rn I feel like I need the video to follow what’s happening. Also cutting out more unnecessary stuff like sharing fries (or maybe even skipping eating while recording) would really improve the listening/watching experience, since the free episode’s are only 1h long. But these are just my 2 cents on what would improve this show as a podcast! But I’m just one random fan, so nobody has to agree with me ofc! I’ll continue watching regardless❤️
