Over my time of playing since 04/05 I've seen it a few times, progressively less and less as time has gone on the interactions in-games with GMs has dwindled to near nothing, but it was always such an exciting time. Once having a GM turn into a giant boss in org on I think it was Vashj long ago.

@@Yams42279 oh yeah I hadn’t even considered that… that’s a shame I deliberately chose “lone wolf” server because to my knowdge it has no major A-list streamers on alliance side at least… even so the stv bloodmoon event just gets crazier with each reset/as more people level and gear up, it’s honestly enough of a chaotic/mass gathering/mass destruction “scene” as it is, and it’s generally the sheer number of players present in a zone at a time that warrant GMs actually making themselves visible & talking to players, albeit streamers do seem to get those more lengthy “one on one” interactions that would feel way more special if it happens to me, vs. just seeing a gm appear and kill a bunch of people/mobs 🤷‍♂️

Sadly, this is just the facade of old school MMORPG. They literally only show up for streamers, give streamers all the priority for loot and info, and endlessly promote the streams. The real WoW community has died and was replaced with the Twitch community.

People would kill NPCs with no loot table for no other reason than “it’s hard and we did it!” Maybe they worried the players were a bit too fragile to kill the boss and find nothing other than the glory of having done it. Or what if there IS loot on the boss which is meant for later and they didn’t think people would be able to organize and kill through the chaos of the event.

I haven’t played since 2018 (started in 2005) but damn this brings back memories! We were once doing some sorta attunement for some raid and we were in a cave in maybe blasted lands or something - but out of nowhere multiple npc’s from the zone, all dragonkin, all come blasting through the cave and directly through walls. Then a GM appears and says “lol” and then leaves.

A GM stopped me in Classic WoW relaunch in Dustwallow Marsh I was level 15 headed to WC. He asked what I was doing out of my level zone, and I told him I was headed to WC, he released a monster and he and I ran from it all the way to WC it was fun, but the GM ran WC with us, and it was pretty huge lol. I can't tell you what he did in WC I said I wouldn't, but it was great, and I got 5 free levels out of it.

I think I get it … you dps him down with your bloods on then get him to the “enrage” point where you get him on that alter and everyone then cashes their bloods in as when you did the arena he took massive damage from what I think an “oops” cash came in and then without bloods they died and gave him massive heals … If that helps you 😅

Maybe try using detect magic on him? A lot of tools GM's use to make changes that are temporary are buffs. I remember way back in the day at the end of each PTR cycle the GM's would summons bosses inside the cities and give people buffs such as "Test Grow" and such.

You do realize that that mount has been datamined before and was never found. All the way back when ZG first opened. The theory was a NPC spawn in a small cave in the raid itself. Blizzard said it was a model but was never given an item number and therefore couldn't be put in the game.

This felt...very reminiscent of the EverQuest Dragon boss. It was a boss that wasn't intended to be defeated, but tons of players all teamed up to actually attempt to beat it because it was NOT invincible, it was just created to have such an insanely high health pool and damage that it should be statistically impossible to kill him. But players find a way. It took HOURS of work, and just before they were about to kill him the GM'd despawned the dragon. After a ton of public backlash they respawned the boss and allowed the players to kill it. The boss dropped 0 loot, it was a kill entirely FOR GLORY.

Degreelessness means, state of without degree. and an old school lingo. Id Delta Quit Delta. A fraternity Dave Taylor founded after learning that, Quitting or dropping out of a course gave him a statistically better grade than failing a course. 'Degreelessness Mode' because just like quitting a course, skipping straight to the end, you don't technically succeed but finish anyway. IDDQD was also a famously well known cheat code for God mode in the game Doom.

Chances are there was nothing in the loot table to begin with, so they're probably going to add it in the next event, so for the next kill it actually has something in it. No guarantee on the mount tho.

The GM has immortality. Fatal damage absorbed and full heal every 5s. You can't kill them. The boss has blood drain. Which means health and then has blood sacrifice increases health pool.
