So so nice to see you back. Great watch as always. I had a great time in CR during November for ten days with 250 species seen including three of the four endemics but I didn’t want to leave. Look forward to more of your great tours… wishing you a great Christmas and a bird filled 2025 👍

Thanks, and good to see you again :) Yeah, trusting the SINAC website and Google was definitely a rookie mistake. Luckily the area around the park is worth a visit of its own

Guys...I thought you went missing😂. Great to see you back with new stuff. And Jabirus OUTSIDE Palo Verde. So cool. We hiked inside the park, were devoured by mosquitos and didn't see one😅. Well, closed gates are a common thing in CR sometimes and yes, they should improve their way to communicate this to visitors! Btw, we will be back next year in November and are already planning. All the best for christmas and PURA VIDA

Happy new year, Dirk! Yeah, we disappeared for a bit 😅 The rainy season was grueling and I’ve been insanely busy with other stuff recently. One goal for 2025: try to find more time! Great to hear you’re in planning mode for a visit! Any rough itinerary already?

@jabirustories hola y Pura Vida and a happy new year! Oh yes, I saw this in friend's videos, that heavy rains turned parts of Costa Rica into white-water-rivers! Terrifying footage in many areas! Well, we are thinking about a few days in Corcovado, maybe visit San Gerardo de Dota, highly likely Tortuguero, and hopefully get to Nicoya for a few days...

Is better to stay directly in the park if you want to visit for a few days during the dry season?

I'd say it depends on your thirst for adventure. I stayed at the OTS station in the park for a couple of nights a few years ago, and it was definitely a bit... basic. They have dorm rooms with somewhat acceptable bunk beds and surprisingly decent food, but you need to be pretty tolerant of crawly things. It was a great deal though and good fun in the end, but the day I left they had a school class coming in and I was definitely glad we didn't overlap. Still, to my knowledge staying there is the only way to see the park in the early morning (and it's wonderful). I'm glad I did it once, but now I prefer staying outside and being on the road to the park in the early morning.
