Lol there are four tones😂 5:30 “wow we sound so Asian” I mean you’re close. You can definitely hear that you’re a white person trying to pronounce mandarin but it’s so funny! I absolutely love speaking mandarin (as a half Chinese). 9:30 “die die” is younger brother... lol it’s “dee dee”

What an INCREDIBLE video idea! I've always been fascinated by Christine's choice to use the competitive name of Peng Peng, which is HIGHLY indicative of her Chinese heritage, but she is VERY MUCH a Proud Canadian National. Even more so, I love that the Glenn Sisters seem to have been encouraged to learn and embrace as much of their Chinese ancestry despite being adopted by Caucasian parents. Based on Peng's Vlog from last year when it showed them putting together little goodie bags to celebrate Chinese New Year, I would have assumed that they had maybe a basic conversational knowledge of their native tongue. Obviously, I was wrong 😁

I think it’s so hard to pronounce, because it seems there are not a lot of harder sounds like K, T or P. To the untrained ear, it appears like there are a ton of the wua, wuo, yee sounds. Not sure if I’m making any sense, but I’m sure I’d have a difficult time learning Chinese/Mandarin. (Not that it matters, but I speak 5 languages, but they’re all European languages).

I'm indian and was adopted as well but no nothing about my language 😭 I wish I had more indian friends but don't 😞😢 cause I'm really Americanized and few Indians I did try give me the stink eye or I feel cause I don't belong in the caste system as them once they ask me where I'm from.🙁

Your Chinese is great! Even though you guys didn't know how to read the words, your pronunciation is actually better than 99% of people who try for the first time.... Except when you tried to say "the year of the pig" lol. It's not completely your fault for that one though because Google Translate kind of translated it wrong! I think it tried to translate it literally, as in "This is the year of the pig" while a more "fluent" way to translate it would be "This year is pig year". You guys are hilarious! Keep trying to keep up your Chinese skills :) Question- for Canadian born Chinese do you guys say CBC? Because for us Americans we say ABC (American born Chinese haha)

There's a Dutch speed skater with the name that translates to "younger brother", then, if it's true that something like "dei dei" or "dai dai" is younger brother. Google translate translated it into "di di", would be cool if his name actually meant "younger brother".
