Great shoutout in the NYT: Along the way, Mr. Szimanski has stumbled into internet fame. A KZbin channel he and Ms. Jones created at the start of the pandemic to offer programming while the museum was closed now has nearly 240,000 subscribers. Tickets for the dry-dock tours that Mr. Szimanski leads are selling for $1,000. (Tours led by other guides are $225.) “I think it’s crazy!” said Mr. Szimanski, 34, who grew up in Baltimore and has been working on museum battleships since he was a teenager. He is driven, he said, by a desire to offer an authentic window into the country’s military history, including the 1,600-room battleship’s capacity for devastation and the sacrifices that have accompanied it home from war. “Maybe that will be enough,” he said, “to remind us not to do it all over again.”

I don't know if Ryan will read the comments. I think it would be really nice to have a video of the complete drydock tour for people that weren't able to go. It could be posted once she's back in her berth so people could still experience it. As it will be a long time before it happens again.

She's beautiful! OMG! That new paint makes her look brand new! This might be tempting fate, but it occurred to me that if the Navy ever wants her back, now is the time, while she's in a drydock. It'd probably save them months of time. Even if they couldn't get started right away.

Thanks for more great news from the drydock. I very much enjoyed my trip to the Drydock on April 6th. Hard to believe that was almost a month ago already. So glad to see the excellent progress on New Jersey. That red bottom color is striking with the black boot topping. Once you folks repaint the gray hull at some future date she will look like a new ship. The news that additional covers will be added to protect the propeller shafts and seals is exceptionally good to hear. I wish all concerned with the project good luck and stay safe.
