We're driving 4 hours out of Ashland, Oregon and into the mountains to find some incredible rivers to raft on. We booked a trip with Momentum River Expeditions with some amazing guides to help us tackle some daunting looking waters. So a huge thanks to Andy and Mark from Momentum for making sure we were well looked after.

a fun little story of an experience my friend had white water rafting. they were going down the river when they reached some point where it was worse than it was suppose to be and they hit a rock under the raft and at that same moment my friend decided to look behind himself and the guide was gone. he turns back around starts panicking a little. he turns again to look where the guide is suppose to be and the guide is back but the guide has this huge look of fear and panic on his face. they make it back through the rapids fine and he asked the guide what happend. apparently when they hit that rock it launched the guide up and forward and my friend looked at the perfect time right in between when he was launched. luckily the guide was launched forward and landed safely back into the raft.

Having worked on cleaning public toilets, like the one they visited, I can say that that is a common sight. I actually used a pressure wash to clean similar sh*t hole toilets. It was quicker and (slightly) more sanitary. Slightly. That said, that particular rest room had a finished interior, which is kind of rare. Usually it's some wooden or brick shack built around a dump hole.

A note on poison oak: It secretes in irritant oil, but like other oils can be washed off with simple dawn soap and a wash cloth. It’s good to imagine as a thick sticky oil and as such should be scrubbed thoroughly (between the fingers/along the nail beds etc.). As long as you wash off the effected areas with good soap within a couple hours, you will be fine
@rdizzy1
@rdizzy1 5 жыл бұрын
Most people don't realize they have contacted it until it has already reacted with the skin though, that is the issue. I've had issues with poison ivy many times, didn't realize until later in the day when half of my body is covered in welts and bumps.
@xbunnythiefx
@xbunnythiefx 5 жыл бұрын
rdizzy1 That’s true. I think it’s good practice to make sure and wash regardless of whether you think you came into contact or not if you’ve been walking through wooded area.
@TheMacroSlacker
@TheMacroSlacker 5 жыл бұрын
Another note on poison oak/ivy: The rash can take 1 week or longer to show up, so unless you know that you walked through it, which why would you keep walking through it, then you're not going to take the time to bathe with soap within hours of exposure, making this above advice highly situational if not useless. Not mad about it, just pointing it out.

A classic State/National park toilet in the US. What is so odd about that? Holes in the ground have worked well since the beginning of time. Normally the hatch is for putting in chemicals that breakdown the waste and for removing stuff people throw in that cannot be broken down.

Flopage -.- They’re in a park in a mountainous region in the middle of nowhere. A country with 100 times the wealth of the US wouldn’t be able to justify spending the exorbitant amount of money that would be needed to run sewage pipes all the way out there, especially when it’s largely a luxury.

I'm a big dude and my mates I was with are a bunch of twigs so when any of them fell off it was easy to yank them back on to the raft but the moment I went I honeslty thought that was it for me none of them could get me back on just had to float there until the guide came over to help.
