I think this video and tournament arc were my favorite videos so far. Showing the ugly side of high level competitive play is so important and I think this video demonstrated how much the mental game affects your play. In the second and third set yall were not playing that well because of frustration but in the fourth and fifth set yall turned it up because you guys were able to overcome that barrier. Good shit Marco!

Thank you! Yeah we gave it some thought and ultimately we want to keep our content as real as possible, even tho it comes out a bit ugly. Much love for making a comment about it and I'm glad you're enjoying this journey as much as I am :)

This episode got me feeling alil emotional and wholesome at the same time. My team had some heated arguments before during a game which happens especially when the adrenaline kicks in like crazy. I won’t lie seeing you guys being comfortable enough to say “the way you’re talking with people is pissing me off” and then working on it after really made me cry cause where I play they just get angry and start doing faces but they don’t tell you shit so you’ll just be playing and making mistakes and you feel like the worst player cause they don’t help you and that stuff
@jasper9094 ай бұрын
Probably could have had a better choice of words when pointing out your oppo not defending his zone but imo there's absolutely no reason for him not to pick either of those balls up. great talk before the 4th set though!
@colebehiels22034 ай бұрын
I’m the opposite here, and you’re 100% correct. I’ve always been a weak defender overall but this game I was just not making good reads or being where I should be. It was just a combination of tempers flaring and emotion running high, we talked about it after the game and addressed everything and talked it out :)
@jasper9094 ай бұрын
@@colebehiels2203 Everyone who competes, in any sport/setting, has probably been in your guys' situation, I know I have been. You guys only had a short bit of time to talk it out before the 4th set which it seemed like you managed. Not everyone's capable of doing that, good on you guys! Besides that I'm sure there's more happening behind the scenes that we don't get to see, so for your sake I hope you won't take any of the comments on this video too seriously. You guys did well! Must've been exciting seeing Lucas van Berkel roll up before the game hahaha
@colebehiels22034 ай бұрын
@@jasper909 honestly man I’ve played this sport for about a decade, used to compete at a higher level and now I just play for fun. It definitely does teach mental resilience for sure, because between the other team, fans, high stakes games or even your own team, you eventually learn a certain level of mental composure and you realize at the end of the day, it is just a sport although it feels more stressful at times! And yeah, playing against some of these guys like LVB and some of the other trinity western alumni definitely is humbling lol, it can definitely remind you just how good some players are - really tall and dominant athletes
@coolinchin34773 ай бұрын
@@colebehiels2203yo I’m curious btw, idk if that’s the curl-out position but it seems like you’re always away from position 2 when defending, so much so that you’re unable to cover close tips. I could just be trippin. Regardless, is that positioning just accidental attack positioning habit or is there merit behind that positioning.l?
@colebehiels22033 ай бұрын
@@coolinchin3477 Hey sorry just saw this comment. Honestly for my defense I play isn't really ideal, I have a tendency to be a little lazy and flat footed and I am actively working on both. You are 100% right, if I was playing a little more up when backrow, or curled better in front row, I would have a lot more pickups - but I am a little guilty of relying my team who are a lot better defenders than I am, to pick up the ball. Hopefully this answers your question man!

uhh just a tip i see that your blocker in position 2 is often a little to far out and that leave to much cross open espiecially because i can see your middle(don't know all ur names yet) having to cover way to much ground. im a 6'9" middle and often i only find that your blocker on position 2 is to far out(e.g. 17:40 we see the setter jump from a good spot and drift towards the line and create a seam harder to cover by the middle and defence, ending up creating a scramble, *trust your defence*, its more annoying having a good hit being picking up instead of blocked). if he is undersized then i feel as though it is understandable, but you all have good block heights so no point in doing that edit: uhh im not sure if this will help much but the approach timing of your middle is a little early: he starts his approach early and his approach is really slow so he isn't jumping fully, a quick solve would be to get him to start his approach later and make his approach faster so he isn't jumping in a way that will cause injury edit 2: not tryna sound like an asshole but im also a middle and my own coachs always say the best way to improve your own technique is to teach these thing to others, because you can see the mistakes they make and transfer your insight of their flaws and create a better form for yourself. im also editing as i go through the video

Hopefully my teammates see this comment haha On a side note, I would really love if you could give me some tips. I've only been playing for a few years and most of what I know about the sport has just been learned through playing. do you mean when he goes to block in the outsides? is just his aproach so he has a highest jump
@kylebehiels3963Ай бұрын
@@sebastianrodriguezbrenes5389 As a middle, when you jump with one of the outsides your hands can be further apart than you think to cover more space. Think of shooting a soccer ball at a net. If you kick from the side the space to hit is much smaller than if you kick from right in front. That's why you'll see middles sealing to their outsides with their outside hand and "pressing" back towards the court with their other! Edit: 40:47 if you want an example of what hands too narrow gets you lol

From all the Li-Ning shoes, which would you say is your favorite to play in so far? Also great to see you still play with the boyss Love your volleyball content so much, think it's some of the only medium/high level Volley gameplay that gets uploaded consistently (other than official pro matches of course). It's definitely on the level of college boys practice videos so I'm always happy to be able to observe some more balls getting smashed 😂 (Also holy sht that other outside from your team can jump, you got yourself some competition now Marco, eh ? ;) )

Mmmm it’s hard to say, cuz every shoe I put on has their own pros and cons. But I’d say my top 3 would be the Son of Flashes, All City 12’s, and mmmm man I think it’s tied between the WOW 10’s and the 808 4 Ultras 😂 And oh Brenan? Yeah haha he definitely is a great pick up for the team. He maxed out his years of College Eligibility so he brings a lot of skill and knowledge that will help us succeed. He’s also a great player to watch for myself cuz I feel like it’ll help me try new things and keep pushing me to improve my game 🔥 I still have a lot to learn given my limited experience in this game, but playing with and competing against different players will definitely grow as a player ✊🏽
